  1. I guess I lucked out - just used the previous version of l6 updater and it was able to communicate with the unit and hop straight to 2.91. Seems like a USB communication problem between Edit/Updater and/or the firmware, but I guess time will tell.
  2. UPDATE: I reinstalled the earlier 2.82 version of Line6 Updater (the latest version didn't work for me), and it was able to see the Helix when it powered up (no footswitches pressed). From there I did a firmware upgrade to 2.91 from scratch, without problems.
  3. Not me. Have never had any Helix update problems before, either.
  4. I am having the same problem as "Monsterinus" - dead in the water halfway through the update process, trying to update from 2.7 to 2.91. Mac OS Mojave Helix Floor driver 1.7 HX Edit 2.9 I get halfway through the update process and the Helix's display says "-3 Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode!". HX Edit sees the unit, but doesn't manage to connect. Pressing the "Reconnect" button gives "Connection Interrupted" after 20 seconds or so. The solution someone posted of entering update mode and using Line 6 updater did not work (Updater does not see the device). Has anybody else experienced this and found a way out? EDIT: I tried connecting from a Windows 10 laptop running HX Edit - same result.
  5. I see the same behavior and have the same question.
  6. If they retire the JTV, the only iron in the fire will be the Standard. I doubt Yamaha will leave it at that.
  7. What gets my hopes up is that with Helix L6 now seems to be aiming more for the high-end, so a higher-end Variax would be a natural. And Yamaha makes very nice guitars when they want to. Maybe they'd even rev the modeling guts of the Variax...
  8. The JTV line may be on the way out, but I doubt that Variax is. if they were going to EOL Variax itself, L6 wouldn't have just introduced the 'Standard', or put a Variax port on the (brand-new) Helix. I would guess/hope that it means Yamaha will build some nice mid-to-high end Variaxes. This may just be wishful thinking: I have an HD-25 and a Helix, and am holding back on the Variax, hoping for a new version. If they don't announce something at NAMM, I may have to give in and go through the dusty JTV-69s at Sweetwater until I get a good one :) .
