  1. Yeah, let me dig it up and see what I have. I bought a used Stomp XL about 8 months ago, so I have only been building presets in it vs on the amp. I'll get it done though over the next few days
  2. Can you tell me how you have this setup? I have a Blues Jr clone but the speaker is just okay and thought about doing this as well.
  3. I just got a Stomp XL a week ago and I know I am just scratching the surface, but so far anything coming from the Stomp XL sounds great using the Dynamic amp. Mine is set up with no Boost, Gain around 4.5, Bass at 6, Mid at Noon, and Treble at 5. Presence is around 4 as well. This seems to work well with anything I throw at it from the stomp using my Strat. What's your favorite? Feel free to share your settings.
  4. Thanks for that detailed explanation. I'll start messing with it and let you know if I have any problems. This is all new territory to me, so I really appreciate the time you spent to explain it. Once I get into it, I'm sure it will make better sense regarding presets, snapshots, etc. It just showed up today, so I have some reading to do, lol...
  5. I have a Cat 200 and just received a pre-owned Stomp XL. Is it possible to use the Stomp XL to switch between the multiple cannels of the Cat? The Stomp XL has the 3.60 update installed and I read that on 3.0 update it gave Command Center midi control, but I'm not finding anything about the use of that for the Cat 200. I saw where the HX FX is able to do this and I was looking for a pre-owned HX FX but a Stomp XL showed up for a pretty sweet price so I jumped on it instead. Thanks, Byrdman
  6. This is the way I did it - After you have done the above, make a new folder on your desktop and name it Cat Files so it's easy to find, and put the files you DL into it. When you click "Upload File to Amp" in edit, it will ask you to choose what folder to use. Pick the one on your desktop you created. From there on, it will go to that file every time. I re-save them to that same file once I have done the fine tuning.
  7. That is a pretty heavy request, pun intended. TBH, the only way I have been able to get harder high gain sounds is with additional effects and plugins. If you have a stomp, or like me, a Nux MG300, you can get closer. You can also try Tonex or NAM plugins to help. I was able to get some Janes Addiction/Smashing Pumpkins tones using my MG300 and Tonex CS. This amp is, IMO, not really great for heavy distortion tones. Maybe you can get a used Spider or something along those lines to satisfy that itch. This amp is really good at doing what it does, but heavy & metal distortion is not what it does best IMO.
  8. Thank you for the help! Choosing ASIO did the trick. Now all I need to do is dial them in.
  9. Thank you! I'll try that. I'm using a laptop, so desktop version. I messed with the all the settings and saw ASIO, but I did not change the inputs when I picked ASIO. I'll let you know if it works.
  10. Okay, I got sound coming out, but the latency is bad and it really doesnt sound good at all. There are no 3 & 4 in Tonex settings, just Input 1 and output Left and Right. It did automatically pick up the Cat as an AI. Any suggestions appreciated!
  11. Thank you for the information. I assume the USB 1/2 & 3/4 are assigned in the software? Do I still need an AI in the chain or will Cat Edit handle it? This will be the first time I have done this and if you have time and can dumb this down any additional info is appreciated. Thanks again!
  12. I have been using my Catalyst Edit SW since day one, so we are all good there as far as computer connectivity. Hopefully it will run through or in conjunction with the Cat Edit SW. Thanks for taking the time to let me know how you are doing it with another amp.
  13. I have been searching on how to use a laptop as a modeler/effects pedals with my amp without much success. What I would like to do is try Tonex CS and some of the other the free/opensource modeling plugins through my Catalyst 200. I'm not interested in running it through a DAW to record, at least yet, unless there is no other way around it. Just wanting to try some of the free modeling plugins out there through the amp without needing to buy hardware/pedals. Perfect setup would be guitar>computer>amp, with an audio interface in the line somewhere. I play at home and I just want to use my computer as the modeling/effects pedalboard. I know I will need an audio interface, but I have never used one and unsure of where, how or what unit would work in this situation. All the videos/info online I found discuss the interface as a tool to replace your amp, not use it as a modeler/effects hardware replacement. Any recommendations are appreciated and obviously since this is a home only situation, the cheaper the better. Thanks in advanced!
  14. One of the members at TGP said he plugged his acoustic guitar through the FX Loop and used clean with a little reverb and chorus and it sounded pretty good. He may have adjusted a few settings in the edit software, I cant remember. I have not tried it yet, but I need to . Check the Catalyst amp post over there.
  15. I'll attach what I am working on for Hendrix tones in a bit, they are on another computer. Try them out and let me know what you think if you get a chance. These are with out fuzz, but the last one I add a NUX MG300 to put Detune, EQ, & a little TS.
  16. Thanks! I'm probably just overthinking everything and the usual afraid of missing out thoughts. IMO, product info on Line 6's site, and almost all other manufacturers sites, tends to lack details so doing research on other places like TGP, etc, just adds to the overall confusion. Thanks again!!
  17. Thank you! BTW, I'm in Winter Haven FL.
  18. I bought the Catalyst 200 about 2 months ago and love the amp. I'm looking to add to it for not only additional effects, but for midi control as well. Anyone care to make any recommendations or can cover the basic +/-'s of these units? Or anyone use these with a Cat by chance? My gut is telling me to just go with a HXFX and worry about amp modeling later if I need it. I understand that the HXFX is effects only and would be the least expensive to accomplish my needs, but for a few hundred more, is it worth it for the amp modeling even if I may not use it? IMO, the Cat 200 sounds great and covers any amp sound I would probably need with it's built in 6 for what I play. I'm mainly classic rock to alternative 80's, 90's, & 2000's. I'm just stuck at this point trying to decide. I don't want to spend extra money on stuff I wont use or not spend enough and regret not getting the additional amp modeling or additional footswitches for enough midi control I may need down the line. BTW, cant justify spending the money on a Helix for the best of all worlds. TIA! Byrdman
  19. I think you get a footswitch for free if you buy a 100 or 200 before the end of the year.
  20. Yeah, I like the Boutique too. I have been using it a lot more lately now that I have some playing time on the amp. I like to put it right on the edge of breakup on Boutique and adjust guitar volume depending on what I am playing or what part of the song. I'm playing through an Epi ES-335 with Classic 57's, so that may be while it sounds too heavy for what you are using. Plus everyone has a certain sound in their head too. Glad you checked it out. BTW, the Richie Cat Grit didn't sound good with my 335 but I have not played with the settings much yet either. I DL'ed a lot of them and the ones that sounded good right away were the ones I tweaked to my liking. I may go back and check it out again soon with my other guitars too. Let me know if you come up with a good Hendrix Lead & Rhythm tone. I started deep diving on some of his work and have yet to really come up with anything I'm happy with playing on my squire strat, cheap guitar from 2008 I picked up used but I love the neck on it. I put Fender Ventura 60's PU's in it so I should be able to find something that will nail it, but I have only gotten close on like a Hey Joe sound.
  21. If you have a bigger budget, you should at least look at HXFX, Stomp, or Stomp XL. Line 6 has a great video where they are using the HXFX to assign midi locations to control the amp. I watched it, but since I dont have an HXFX yet, a lot went in one ear and out the other. I need it in my hands to really "get" it but it did give me an overall understanding.
  22. Good morning! Sorry it took an extra day or so. I live in Central FL, and we have had a little storm to deal with. Here is what I am using for Led Zep. I used the 5A Clean Marshall in Customtone for starters and inspiration. I called it Heartbreaker, but this seems to work pretty well as a base tone on their classic sound just need to adjust Gain, Presence, & Boost levels. I'm still working on their modern tone like Presence, Physical Graffiti, In Through the Out Door, etc. but I don't have it dialed in well yet because I have been mostly playing their classic stuff with this. Good luck and let me know if this helps or if you are able to use it to dial it in better than I did. Here are a few Cult tones I have been working on too. One is for Love and the other Electric base tones. I also used a few tones on CT as a starting point, but don't remember which ones. Led Zeb Heartbreaker.catl6p Cult SSS & Rain.catl6p Cult Lil Devil.catl6p
  23. Absolutely! I post a pic of the amp settings later today. I'm playing through an Epiphone es335 with Gibson 57 Classics and 50's wiring, so YMMV. BTW, have you DL tones from Customtone? IMO, they are a great starting point.
  24. It's a hell of an amp and especially so when considering the price point. I have had mine, 200w 2x12, for about 2 weeks and love it. Within an hour I had some very useable tones. Of course, I am continuing to fine tune them, but Led Zeb, AC/DC, Cult, etc. were pretty easy to dial in right out of the box. It takes pedals well, and has a lot of options but not so many that you are spending more time tweaking vs playing. IMO, its made for someone that wants a simple setup, a handful of different amp tones, and already has some pedals. It's not for everyone, but it's everything I wanted. I don't need super high gain tones or need to string 5-6 effects together for what I play. I thought the sound of the amp was a lot better than the Katana. I also think that we may get more options or flexibility later on with updates, but if not, I'm good with it anyway. Yes, it's a lot more amp than what I need, but so was my Duoverb and Flextone I had and played out a lot with them.
