  1. Hi, I have a Spider V 60 and FBV II shortboard. I want to use the looper but playing live, the switch is too risky given it’s position at the back of the board - it is difficult to control and runs the risk of pressing a different switch accidentally. So I have been looking at adding a new external switch to control it. The basic idea was to drill a hole in the back of the bed all for a a female guitar jack socket connected to the existing switch with a footswitch plugged into the socket. When I have tried this, the switch starts the loop but about 3 seconds later, erases it. I am certain I have it soldered to the correct points on the base of the switch so could it be a different type of external footswitch is needed? Anyone tried anything like this or have any ideas on how it could work? Thanks Pete
  2. I've solved the problem so here is the answer for anyone else that has this problem. I used the information I had found and took an educated guess! I ordered these: Black Button Tactile Switch, Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) 50 mA @ 24 V dc 1.4mm. The technique of removing the old one, cleaning the solder off and inserting the new one was a whole different experience! Hope it's useful!
  3. Hi, I have a Spider V 60 and I've just picked up a second hand Shortboard MkII. However som of the switches do not respond. I have googled away a few hours and find that it's a fairly common problem. I understand the solution but can't find the parts. On the old forum, someone posted the switch details as a 6mm TACTILE SWITCH, THRUHOL made by GC Electronics, part number PTS645SL43-P. Anyone know where I could find this switch or similar in the UK? I've looked on a few sites and there are lots of similar switches. As far as i can tell it is 6mm (is that 6mm x 6mm ?) On-Off switch rather than momentary but there still seems to be options. Help please! Thanks Pete
  4. This is going to sound ridiculous now but we have plenty of 'normal' rechargeables around that are 1.2v and when I looked around I found the zinc ones at 1.6 but I've not seen Alkaline ones over here, but probably just not looking in the right place! They seem like the perfect anwer! Cheers Pete
  5. I want to use 6 rechargeable AAs in my Variax 500 but of course, they don't produce enough power. Zinc rechargeables are 1.6v each, 6 would therefore have 9.6v. Any problems with doing this? I've read a little about legacy Variax issues with repairs if anything went wrong so I want to be sure. Thanks Peter
