  1. Triryche is spot on. I tried an experiment by listening to my JTV-69 through headphones plugged into the headphone jack of a small practice amp that I have. This negated my amp's speaker so that I could only hear my guitar through the headphones. I tested all alternate tunings, and all ghost tones were gone. I was pretty amazed how the acoustic resonance of the guitar was indeed causing the hearing of these ghost tones.
  2. I realize this is an old thread, but I am new to Variax and the HD500X, and I thought I would add here what Kurt at Blue Jeans Cables said about ethernet cables. He said that there is no standardization, or requirement for the testing of ethernet cables and consequently their quality is all over the place. At BJ Cables he said they test each cable they sell with a 100K testing device. Each cable comes with it's own test report. He suggests that the Belden 1305A is not only an ethernet cable of highest quality, but is also made in with a unique jacketing design that makes the cable highly flexible. I think he said that in an "Audioholics" interview that could be found online he talks about this. Anyway, I wonder if a higher quality VDI cable like the Belden would make a difference in sound when using the magnetics?
  3. Soon to be new Variax JTV-69 and HD500X owner here. Ordered, and on the way.....yahoooooo! I realize this is an old thread. but it still seems the best place to post my question(s): 1) Do you use two cables with this setup (both HZ, and VDI cable) to be able to use both the magnetics, and DSP sounds? I have done a lot of searching online, but cannot find the answer to that question. 2) On the Line 6 support page (http://line6.com/software/) there are many, many options for downloads for the HD500X; monkey, 500x edit, updater, farm, etc., etc. Do I need to download all these when I get my gear? I'm sure when I get the manual it will answer all this, but I am just in anticipation and wanted to go ahead and find out. Thanks, Devlon
