  1. Hi all, here's a follow up on the HD500x re-booting itself when the Variaxe cable is plugged in. It seems to only happen when I leave the battery inside of the JTV59. When I remember to remove the battery before plugging in the cable, the Hd500x doesn't reboot.
  2. Congratulations Jughaid on your purchase of the JTV-59! I've purchased mine back April (I think) and I love it. I just love the ability to sound and play almost anything of any genre of music. I wish you many days of sheer enjoyment!
  3. That was very informative ColonelForbin, especially when you mentioned the weight of the FH1500. When you said, "it weighs alot! 63 lbs - heavy, but not impossible to move around", that was one of my biggest concerns. The FH1500 will be perfect for churches that we visit who doesn't have a sound board that can accommodate instruments - only vocals; musicians had to bring their amplifiers. But after thinking about it, 63 lbs isn't too bad if I only need to handle occasionally. I've been playing and lugging a combo tube amp for many years and now that I'm 57 years old; I don't seem to have the energy as I used to. :) But in this case, it's always to good to have the FH1500 standing by when I need it! Thank you ColonelForbin!
  4. I bought myself (for my birthday) a JTV-59, and I'm lovin' it!

  5. That's possible, even-though I purchased the HD in December, the power adapter might be defective. I'll check it out. Thanks!
  6. Thank Hurghanico for your suggestion. The power supply is the original that came with the HD. I powered on the HD without the Variax connected as you suggested. I pressed and held the tap button, and it didn't reboot. While the HD was in the tuning mode, I connected the cable to the variax and then to the HD. Toggled the tuning mode off and on - no reboot. Maybe I'll continue that start up sequence from now on! Will having the battery installed inside the guitar may have caused a power surge or something when I power on HD with guitar already connected?
  7. I've noticed that this happens every time, only when I power it on for the first time before church service and rehearsal. My typical process of plugging in and getting started as follows: I plug in my guitar to the hd via the variax cable. Then I power on the hd. When it's powers on, all the LEDs are glowing normally, and of course the tap is flashing. Now, when I press and hold the tap to tune, it will practically reboot itself and once that happens, no problems. I can press and hold the tune all day long and it will not reboot itself. Everything will work without a problem. Does that usually happen when using the variax cable? I haven't experience that issue when using a 1/4 in instrument cable. The latest firmware was applied when purchased it a few months ago. Thank in advance!!
  8. Wow, thanks Crusinon2. . I've been playing the guitar wrong for all of these years. I thought myself to play, but asking someone on how hard I should press the strings did not even cross my mind...until now.
  9. Thank you Silverhead for your thoughts. You are so right, I keep pressing on the strings and for the life of me, the subtle out-of-tune-ness is just driving crazy. Luckily, I have a few days before Sunday service and I can try to adjust my playing on Jumbos. I hope to avoid swapping out my Jumbos for mediums, but we'll see. Stay tuned..... Thanks again!
  10. My new JTV-59 arrived to my home three weeks and I am loving it! However, because I've been playing guitars with medium frets for so many years, Jumbo frets are new to me and it's taking a lot to getting used to the feel of the neck and fret sizes (which by the way, are surprisingly very comfortable to me). My question is, is there a certain technique to play Jumbo frets? Do I have to press down on the strings hard enough to touch the fret-board or does it take just, gentle press on the strings? I've notice that I've been playing my JTV59 like my medium fret guitars, it's difficult to keep my tuning. Thanks in advance for your suggestions/comments/lessons!
  11. Thanks Pianoguyy for your suggestion - that was the first that I tried when it happened. I was disappointed because it wasn't even the screw on type; it was held on with a flat piece of metal that ran through the center of the plug. Everything is manufactured on the 'cheap' now days. Again, thank you for your help.
  12. Thank you, that did it! Removing the bottom wasn't as bad as I thought. But trying pull the tip was quite challenging, but I eventually extracted it. The pedal is working normally as if nothing happened. :)
  13. Today in church before service, I inserted my Sony headphones with 1/4 jack into the phones input so I can do a quick refresh of the morning songs. After I had the music down, I pulled out the headphone jack and to my dismay, I saw that the headphone plug was missing the tip. When I looked inside of the jack on the HD500x, the tip was still inside of it. My heart sank!! Do I have to undo the bottom of the Pod in order to gain access to the plug and pop the tip out? Or can I just unscrew phone plug from the back and pull it out to gain access to the tip from there? I've attached a photo illustrating the tip is comfortably residing inside my HD500x. HELP!
  14. I'm going to purchase a JTV-59 in a few days, but I'm curious about the fret wires used to on the Variax. Are they steel, nickel or composite fret wires...I can't seem to find any mention of them in the specs - just curious.
  15. Valuable info McBeddall, thank you so very much for your reply!
  16. Thank you for your suggestion! I will definitely try what you've suggested. And, by the way, please post your basic amp setups...that'll be great!
  17. OK, now that I've gotten used to my Line6 HD500x (and I love it!) I am a church guitarist and I use my newly acquired HD500x mainly at church, so it doesn't travel. I also play for a gospel quartet who travels to different churches and I've been eyeing and drooling over the FH1500 since its release. It'll be great to use my various tones on the road as I do at my home church. The thing that had me wondering was that I've read somewhere online that the Firehawk FX pedal is highly recommended. However, I've invested many hours on tweaking customtones and creating my own tone for my HD500x and I would love to take my tones with me. Can I still connect my HD500x to the FH and still enjoy my tones? Or Is it possible that I can copy my tones to either the FH1500 or FX and I can continue to use my favorite tones on the road? Or do I have to start from scratch and tweak the included tones in the amp? I hope my question isn't too confusing and thank you in advance for your input!! ;)
  18. Hi all! I'm still learning and discovering great tones that from my HD500x. However, I'm a little confused regarding the LCD display on the unit. After looking at user input from other Pod forums, some say that the pre-amp is to the left of the amp; which I thought is to the right. When playing around with effect patches, I'm confused on where the pre-amp portion is located in regards to the amp. Is it to the left of the amp symbol or to the right? Thanks in advance!
  19. Thanks everyone! The conversation was very helpful; I definitely learned so much from you all. I was up last night (knowing I had to go to work in a few hours) creating my tones for both guitars. I play gospel for a band and in my home church and the only time I play anything that requires "rock-like" distortion is for the praise and worship for the youth choir who sings once a month. I've download several CustomTones and "tweaked" them for my humbucker guitar. Awesome rock and metals tones out there. The other three weeks of the month I play my single coil axe and create my setup for scratch. I switch between JC120 and Twin Reverb for my amps then I would configure several FXs, Mods and other "ear candy" that fit the music. I'm loving my HD500X! It will make it's debut in church this Sunday! :)
  20. Thank you again, Uber Guru! You've been very helpful. I have no more questions (today). I will not bother you again. :)
