  1. I wanted to do exactly the same thing, and if you find there is a straight-forward solution. please post it. Personally I find I play better thru the power cab because it just feels better. And when recording I like the guitar to be just a bit louder than it will sound in the final mix so I'm not playing harder to hear myself. I constantly struggle with hearing the guitar vs not peaking the recording of the guitar and was hoping using the power cab might be a solution.
  2. Thanks spikey. Now I need speaker stands so I can hear my monitors since the Helix is blocking it........
  3. My son has a 3D printer. I asked him to prototype a Helix stand for my desk, and he came up with this. He made the triangles narrow just to see if the angle was right, but while it may LOOK a little flimsy, it's plenty sturdy to hold the 15 pound Helix. And it won't tip over backwards unless you WANT to tip it over. He's making me another pair so I can have my mixer stand upright. I don't know if any of you have or have access to a 3D printer, but we'd be more than happy to send you the .stl (CAD drawing for you non 3D print guys like me) file.
  4. I seem to have the same problem and don't want to lose the Helix for months, so I'm trying to come up with a work around so the Helix can still be my recording interface. I have a UX2 (which I have had for years a must have plugged and unplugged mics into with the phantom power on hundreds of times without a problem) and was thinking I could use that for mic-ing and S/PDIF digital out from the UX2 to the Helix . I've never used S/PDIF before. Anyone have experience or maybe have tried a similar approach? I don't to blow something else up on the Helix.....
  5. I created a preset in Setlist 3 using one of the factory presets as a starting point. After I modified the preset I hit the 'Save' icon, Helix asks if I want to overwrite the existing preset and I click yes, When I get out of that preset and back in, its not saved. I realize I can save the preset to a file but I really want to have a user preset library available. Having to open a bunch of saved preset files would get unwieldly. I did screen captures and tried attaching them here in a Word doc but the Forum doesn't seem to like Word attachments.
  6. I had this same problem. 'Create Backup' and 'Create Bundle' were both failing. Through process of elimination I narrowed down to factory presets - number 93 in both FACTORY1 and FACTORY2 (I use the 0-127 numbering ). So I copied a good preset over each of these and now both the create backup and create bundle functions work fine. For me it wasn't a big deal since I don't really use factory presets much, and being able to use the new backup capability was worth sacrificing the 2 presets. What was weird was that I was able to open the presets, but none of the blocks were populated. I'm assuming that something got corrupted during the download. Kudos to Line 6 for the new backup process. I use IR's for everything and up to now backups were a real PIA.
  7. Thanks for all the input. I think I've gotten past the problem. I unplugged ALL the USB devices I had and just kept shuffling them around a couple at a time until it seems like I hit the magic combination. The pops are gone - for now. Just too many USB devices...... I do have another question. I once in a while record parts into an application called BandHub, which is a collaborative website where players all over the world contribute parts to covers and original songs. When using the Helix, there is latency of like a 1/2 a second into the BandHub app. BUT... if I output my Helix into my UX2 (yes , yet ANOTHER USB device) and send the UX2 into BandHub, there is no latency whatsoever - everything works fine. Any thoughts on why this might be the case? Could it be the Helix is just passing too much data into this bandhub app and the app can't handle it? Do you think that NOT having a USB3 port on my computer might be the issue?
  8. I'm having problems with popping on playback using the Helix as my audio interface. The project is as basic as can be - one audio track, so I can't imagine I'm taxing either my computer or the Helix resourse-wise. Helix version is 2.20. SONAR X1 (DAW) Windows 7 i5-2400 processor running at 3.10 GHz 8 gb of Ram 64 bit. I've played around with different USB inputs , changing the ASIO buffer setting to large, but nothing seems to work. I have 6 USB inputs , most of which are being used (HELIX, a hub to control wireless mouse and keyboard, Presonus Faderport, Yamaha MX49 keyboard, camera). I've attached a file showing the SONAR ASIO settings. Anyone encounter a similar problem or have any suggestions?
