I think I might have figured it out. Magnetic Blend was up 35% on Acoustic 1 (and not on the others) in Workbench even though my input was only on Variax (I'm using VDI connection only and both paths were Variax only). I can say Workbench and Edit are not very stable and not very reactive. I am constantly unplugging and re-plugging and restarting to get them to function. They are also all the latest versions.

How do you have the tuning control set on the guitar? Is it set to a half step down, or standard? Standard What model is the Helix loading when you go to the preset? Acoustic 5 (toggle up and in E flat), Acoustic 3 (toggle middled and in E flat), Acoustic 1 (toggle down and in Standard). All on the same preset And what tuning is the HELIX telling the guitar to load? All toggle postions state -1 (Eb, Ab etc...). I can switch the Prest Variax Model to Acoutic 3 or 5 and it goes to Eflat but I cannot save it. Once I toggle to middle or up and back to down it goes right back to standard. It just won't save.

First.... can I assume you are on an modern (2nd gen) Variax YES. Bought it a few months ago. and that you are using the Helix to manipulate the tuning? YES, trying to. Are you just toggling the guitar for these sounds YES, or are you recalling them via snapshots? Right now I am not using the Snapshot feature just the pre-set. I can live with the toggle up issue to stay in E-flat but just wondering why I can change and save the Acoustic 1 to E-flat when I am not in 12 string mode.

So, some questions: 1) Are you using the VDI connection and including Variax as an input source in the preset’s Input block? YES 2) It seems you have tried unsuccessfully to use Snapshots for this purpose. Consult the manual section on using snapshots to make sure you understand how this works. Make sure you are assigning the parameters to the snapshot controller and that your changes in each snapshot are being saved before moving to the next snapshot. The Global Setting for Snapshot Edits will be handy here. I was able to get it to work but am having dificutly getting patches (alt tunings) to save for recall. It doens't help that Edit keeps shutting down. 3) If you’re still having difficulty please describe exactly what you are doing in Step 2, because something is not being done properly.

Helix Edit 3.11 keeps shutting down. I am using a new/good USB cable with Windows 10 and it shuts down about every 5 minutes. I then unplug and replug and restart. Sometimes it comes up right and usually I have to restart my computer.

That works. Thank you. Now I have another issue. I have an acoustic patch that is down a half step and worrks on Acoustic 5 (toggle up) Acoustic 3 (middle toggle) and on Acoustic1 (toggle down) when I am in 12 string mode (blue light). Acoustic 5 and 3 are down a half when I go to regular 6 string but Acoustic 1 goes back to standard no matter how many times I try to save it. Each string is set a half step down on the patch and when I toggle to acoustic 1 it shows they are all down a half step but it plays in standard (even checking the tuner it says it is in standard). I need all of them a half step down. I have restarted all devices and that does not help.

In a live, dark setting I don’t have time to search for the model using the model selector. I have Helix Edit and HD Workbench. I need a Banjo, Sitar, and some alternate tunings with Lester and T-bone. I can set each one of these up but I can’t save it for immediate recall.

This did't work. No red lights. "The procedure is described in detail on the final 2 pages of the JTV Pilot’s Guide". Battery is good. Follwed procedure exactly. Does the Guitar Model Selector have to be on a certain model?

Anyway to get the James Tyler back to factory settings?

My expression pedal is squeaking quite a bit. Is it okay to use WD40 on it or what do you suggest?

I have the JT Variax and it does eveything I need except stay in tune after soloing. Are there any specific locking tuners I should get that fit this guitar? Anything else I should consider?

I am trying to edit one of my patches and I have a block I can't delete or replace with something else. I can add to the block but I can't delete it completely and add the new effect. When I try to delete it the scribble script goes blank but the effect is still there and I can turn it on and off.

New to Variax and Workbench. I've had a Helix for years. I can only get my Variax to connect to Workbench if I have the 1/4 inch jack inserted and the VDI hooked to the computer. Is that normal? Can I connect my Variax to my Helix and then the Helix to Workbench?

It was 12 string with the mix full, acoustic sim with Jumbo and bass 0, US Princess amp/cab and a spring reverb. Since the video I switched the amp for just a simple EQ and that’s pretty good too. Make sure you use a bright pickup setting too. Middle single coil if you have one, but it works well with my Les Paul too on middle setting with both pickups coil tapped.

Can someone tell me wich preset is the US Princess? I have updated both the Helix and Helix edit to 3.11 but I can't seem to find it. Trying to get a good acoustic and 12 string acoustic sound.

No mix control. Blackstar HT Club 40.

I set up the Helix using the 4 cable method. This is the order of effects/signal flow. EQ-Compressor-Gain (Dist. Pedal)-Noise Gate-Wah-Volume pedal. The next block is the FX loop. After that I have Chorus-Flanger-Phaser- Delay-Reverb. When I am on the gain channel on my amp and I engage the effects it sounds like I have the direct "clean" sound combined with the gain channel and the sound is much weaker than when I just plug right into the amp. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Dry/Wet type of thing on the effects?

Front of house will be fed by the XLR out on the Helix. The 2 powered wedges and the Blackstar are for personal monitoring (we can't use our in ears for this show).

I just really need to use the Blackstar as a monitor. It will not go to front of house and my main monitoring system is actually 2 powered wedges. What about headphone out?

Yes, I am using full amp and cab models and it makes sense that the signal is too hot. That is kinda what it sounds like. I will try the effects loop and see if that cleans things up a bit.

When I hook up my Helix to the front of my Blackstar HT Club 40 it sounds like there is digital distortion or something happening. I have the 1/4 outs set to instrument and amp is on the clean channel. All patches sound this way. Patches from Helix to the board (XLR-Mic) sound fine. Anybody?
