  1. Thought I'd figure out how to backup my presets and download the editor. But there's nothing just pod farm 1 Helix Updater - Amplifi v2.6 I've googled and still can't find it, I'm sure it's something silly I'm missing but I can't seem to find anything so I can connect and edit and save etc. Or do I just plug my Helix LT into my laptop?
  2. Thanks. But isn't the l2m the same as the L2T except the T has a mixer? There is a place nearby that I'll check out but think all they have is Yamaha , altos and QSC. I also want some thing that not going to get tatty quickly, and looking online I've seen it mentioned that the EVzlx speaker enclosures scuff and look tatty quickly. Where my fender amp looks good as new and so do my mackies. I don't see why QSC k10 or k12 are more money but might be worth a listen at the shop maybe
  3. I currently play straight into my fender twin reverb 65RI. I'm pleased with results but I want to give this modelling thing a chance. But I don't want wedge speaker facing me like I have fold back monitors already for vocals, I want it to be behind me a traditional amp and like I do with my fender. I have it going through the P.A but also have my Amp turned up which gets to the audience also. Not sure the L2m will be powerful enough as it's just 1 10 inch speaker , I like the look of the Friedman . I just want something that will E loud enough for small gigs with my band and not go through the P.A, but sound clean when cranked for bigger gigs but also go through the P.A. Any advice would be great. Price range I don't want to spend a stupid amount of money but also want great sound as I've bought a helix and 2 decent guitar, sold off most of my anolgue pedals . Was thinking of L2m and then adding a L2t later on maybe, or two EV zlx12ps, but the Friedman looks Amp like also. The line 6 firehawk1500 looks too heavy. Our P.A is Mackie c300z passive speakers powered by a Yamaha emx512sc mixer amp. Maybe I would be better off with a Mackie arm 450 or 550 ? Or going direct to the Yamaha and then out of the monitor send into another Passive speaker behind me? Just looking for advice as I've looked at info online and can't make up my mind what to do. I'll be playing mostly clean sounds with delays but some heavier songs using Teemah! Blocking the helix.
  4. Through my fender twin reverb 65 straight in with no Amp or cab sims (obviously) I couldn't hear any difference adjusting headroom etc. I'll try adding an eq after a delay
  5. Thanks sooo much Phil. I'll have a 3 hours free time finally tomorrow to try that out. I quickly tried selecting a delay and pressing the action button - then pulling it down - then putting an eq in front and making the delay 100% wet and then joined it back up to the top line before the output and it didn't work. Just sounded like I'd done something wrong? What's the best way to get clear delays and reverbs with this Helix, straight line, pulling the delay down etc. ? I don't know as I've always used pedals delay into reverb into amp done.
  6. Nope. Just had time to plug it in and when I'm on the view where there are 4 presets at the top which I can choose with the top 4 foot switches and 4 snapshots on the bottom (4 for each preset) that I can choose with the bottom 4 foot switches if I hold Tuner and tune in when I am finished if I tap tuner again it doesn't return me to where I was, it returns me to the other view. I'm still on 2.1 as have no working PC and only iPad , is there going to be an iPad updated/editor? I'm done with PCs,laptops .
  7. I'll try out the parelell path option and see if it gets me what I'm after, but yeah it does seem odd not to have it as a parameter like everything else, my Source Audio Nemesis had it,boss dd500 had it, and every other delay pedal I've owned except one (Aqua puss) has it
  8. Also I use Presets over Snapshots as my main screen
  9. You tap Presets button in, and go to the setlist and there's a choice on one of the knobs under the screen to reorder the presets as you like. I have a different preset for each song , mostly the same reverb, but a lot parameters will change by using the snapshots. I for instance have a Timmah! But on 3 Gain on snapshot 1 , the ill go to snapshot 2 and press in the gain knob and turn which will make the number white, if you go back to snapshot 1 it will be 3 gain, go to 2 it will be something else. I have snapshots setup for verse-Chorus-solo- then usually a louder version of one of them incase I need it but adding 5db or so on the output (again by pressing it in and turning so the other snapshots stay on 0db
  10. So pull down a delay and add an eq block in front of the delay then join it back up before a reverb? Think I get you :)
  11. I had a gig and needed to check my tuning so I held the tuner switch, great, then tapped it again and isnstead of going back to my Preset/Snapshots view it goes back to the other view that I use to edit the presets .
  12. On my Boss DD-500 a very useful feature in the edit menu is Tone -50 to +50. This makes the sound of the repeats darker or lighter and can quickly get what im after. I'm finding I can't get the same tones at the moment using Line 6 Helix LT. can anyone offer some advice ? I'm looking for Tape delay, possibly with heads 1 and 2. I've been trying Transisteor Tape effect but can't get it to sound the way I need it to. Analogue Delay , subtle but like a boss DM-2W I'll have another sit down later with it and try anything that gets posted here. Played my first gig with the Helix and it went really well, although I really need to go over everything as some songs the volume was too high and some not high enough. That's mostly because I've used the preamp blocks and ones like voxac30 bring the whole volume down so I add an eq and boost the level.
  13. I'm sorting about 30 different presets out for tomorrow's gig. I've always ran my analogue pedals into each other (series) but played about with pulling the reverb block down to the dotted line the creating a new line after my drive the joint up after the delay . Not really sure what I'm doing , am I I just missing the delay and going around it but then I'm joining the reverb back up to the top again after the delay.. Should I be going Volume pedal>Distorion>split>1 to delay, 2 to after the delay> in the bottom line having a reverb and going back up to the top line ? Things sound clearer this way , just looking for some quick advice as I've got 3 hours max editing time left before the gig
  14. Still not sure if I should buy a decent active frfr and go from that into my P.A as I'd likely have the speaker behind me like an amp which the audience will hear also so it's not solely for monitoring purposes for just me. I'd like to have the onstage speaker just as loud if not louder than the P.A speakers ( we mainly play small/medium places)
  15. So if I went down this road you say a passive speaker (Mackie c300z is what I already have, or EVZlX12) would be better than an active speaker in my case as I'm already using a 500 watt power amp mixer feeding two main FOH speakers, it has a split Amp to also drive the monitor out which volume and eq can be matched or changed comapared to the speakon main outs. So if I make some ideas with my gear and when I've dialled it in buy a 3rd speaker that should sound better? I'm really hoping using preamps and just the effects through my 85 watt tube amp will sound good - but after making a couple of test presets and using my studio mo itor speaker I was really surprised how good it sounded compared to modelling I've heard before
  16. I've been thinking of trying something out. I've been looking into active speakers. We have 2 P.A systems, one for vocals and drums, and my one which I put my keyboard through and have a small personal monitor on stage. What I'm think is could I go from the helix into the P.A then use my Yamaha Emx 512sc power mixers monitor out into another passive speaker (Mackie C300z) and use that for my onstage sound. The main speakers are Mackie c300z so wouldn't it make sense to get 1 more so I'm hearing exactly what my P.a is sounding like? Or is there some other benefit I'm missing if you use powered speaker? Obviously my setup is unique as I play 40% of a gig on piano and keys and 60% on guitar, just wandering what people 2 cents are? I currently have pedals and a fender twin reverb 65 RI that I'm going to gig with the next 3 weeks and I hope that sounds good with the helix but I'm gonna do some experimenting on soundcheck with the helix going out xlr into my P.A and have a listen
  17. Oh. I don't have a computer. Just an iPad or my phone. Which also means I'm stuck with firmware 2.1 for the time being
  18. Ignore snapshots question just found it in the online manual. By the way is the helix supposed to come with a manual as I didn't get one in the box?
  19. I will and thanks so much . Had 2 hours free today so did some editing and I'm finding that things sounds a lot brighter , Distortions and delays anyway. Should I add an Eq in? Is that the best way to sort that out? Should I put the eq after the effects or before. Found I like using the pre amp as my first block, I like the Vox Ac30 but the volume is way way lower, so to sort that I put an eq after the pre amp and boosted the volume with the 3 band eq Getting that hang of it slowly. Is there a way to name snapshots? I have it setup so there's 4 presets up top and 4 snapshots below, would be good if I could change it to say Solo, or more distortion etc ..
  20. I have a pair of Yamaha HS7 monitors I use (I play keyboard to ) and I've played through that a bit with the helix. Yes not looking at recording anything. In a covers band just want some different delays, distortions, and bit of phase here and there, use snapshots when I can. Maybe once I have some more money I'll venture into the Amp+cab sims with a frfr live but for now it's the Twin Amp I use live.
  21. I've been reading the manual, I suppose I'll just try a few things a see (well hear) what it sounds like. I'll have to research it a bit more as I don't get why I'd need to add say more signal to a reverb to the join it up after a delay for instance? What does this achieve if anything? You say I can change the guitar volume going into each but what's the benefit of that? The plan is to sort everything out so I can gig with the fender twin but also make a few presets to go in the P.A to try out at sound checks and maybe if they sound decent buy a frfr monitor etc and leave the Twin at home sometimes to. (Especially if there's stairs lol)
  22. Right so I have one line (path) with a delay, then split the path before the delays and put a reverb in and then join them back up before the output? How does this make any difference compared to just having reverb come after delay in the same line (path) ? Sorry I'm usually a straight into the Amp guitarist that runs everything simple but I am interested in learning the benefits and theory of all this stuff.
  23. Yes, just guitar into 2 overdrive pedal > Aqua puss > DD-500 > Strymon Flint > Wampler faux spring > Amp. No idea what parallel does to be honest. There doesn't seem to be much control over the delays settings such as tape heads 1+3 or Tone , just sounds different I guess, to get that effect do I have to instead us 2 delays and sync them differently to have the effect of tape heads or something? I like the idea of using these pre amps to to change a few presets such as making it sound more Voxy or supro (soup pro), but do I put the pre Amp first or after distortion?
