Mission cab is awesome. Keep in mind it’s still a 1 x 12, so expecting it to have the wall of sound like a recto 4 x 12 is unrealistic. That being said, it has a crap ton of balls, and with some adjustments, I am getting some pretty ripping tones. 2 of them would be epic...stereo spread.. They are pretty light. I am actually super impressed. The more I play thru it, the more I like it.

Gemini 1 arrived. Totally different than my studio monitors.. more midrangey...not pleasing at loud volumes..Rolled off the FRFR knob about 15 % seems to help..The more I tweak with it , the better it sounds for sure....I'm going to give it a few days of readjusting and eq'ing for the Mission cab, it will probably sound great when I go back into my monitors... I think I was expecting instant "Wow, this sounds just like a regular feeling guitar cab" right when I plugged in... BUT Like I said, will give it a few days... Oh.. weird..I had to use an XLR (mic cable) to hook up the Helix to the Mission.. 1/2 gutiar cable and trs cable did not work. Is that normal?

I hear otgher users on Youtube getting a pretty crushing tone with the Archtype.. I have yet to find that tone on my LT ... The setting is there, just having a tough time getting that ferocious agressive yet clear tone (out of the Archtype) Can get it out of the CaliIV, Engl, and Uber models...

Got it... Tried some preamp as well as amp models that work "OK".. need further tweeking.. I know it isn't the Helix's strong point.. I was actually able to get some pretty stellar sounds today...

Instrument, which is what I have it set at.

I just did the update.. BOOOM!!! There it all is!! Can't wait to try some of these... Cool!!

Ahh.. no I just looked..It has 2.21.0 loaded on it.. It's only 1 week old.... So, do I need to get the latest version? Im "new" so, sorry for sounding like a dumba$$

Came direct from Line 6, not a retailer..It's not refurbed...

Not running any pedals, just using the MKIV as a power amp... I also run it into 2 studio monitors (downloaded Freman Big Pack, sounds KILLER)..Just trying to have a few patches setup for live this way (for fun).. I have a Mission Eng G1 in route

So weird.. I don't have a lot of those presets...????

I just bough a brand new Helix LT 1 week ago, I have the latest firmware etc... There is no Archetype Lead amp in my helix..??!?!?

Even if I turn off the cab and IR, still not getting a good sound going into the effects return of my Boogie MKIV powering a recto 4x12 (I had an AX8 and it sounded AMAZING this way..) What am I missing here?? I prefer cab sims (when going direct) that are V30 4x12, so why is it not working?? ..or should I say not sounding good. I have seen others on youtube do this and sounds awesome (just watched aguy plug into the effects return of a 5150III50w head and cab and it sounded ferocious!! (He didn't specify his settings) So I know it can be done, but I feel like Im missing something..???!?!?! \

StageSource L2m vs Mission Engineering Gemini 1 for Helix LT

So i ended up going to GC and tried 3 powered cabs..Mackie Thump 12 (yuck-boomy), Alto ts212 (they had no 210 in stock) sounded pretty good-weird on the treble/high end when cranked, and then EVZLX12P...The EV was $399 and sounded like the Alto, but better .. more refined, less scooped, and a manageable low-end..Bought it thinking if it sounds this good at home, eventually buy another.. I get it home, and it just sounds harsh, and then boomy, and then boxy, no matter what I try to dial in.. I have it about 10-12' off the floor on a stand..I wonder if this is the struggle that everyone has with going from traditional guitar cab to frfr... I understand that I'm hearing what a FOH would hear...But for my own monitor, it needs to feel a little more guitar/cabby...I may return the EV and get the Mission Engineering Gemini 1 (which I wish I could play through /listen first..) .. -

OK...changing directions... The Mission Engineering cab is awesome, BUT EXPENSIVE!!! and I want to run stereo..(not stereo in the same cab)..I'm going to get 2 powered cabs like ALto or Mackie or similar ($250-300 range). Done! -

Glideman- I think you're right, although I have been LOVING playing through my M Audi Studio monitors in stereo (I did the Freman Bigpack ) No comparison to the factory presets, takes it to a whole new level..WOW!!! So now I just need to decide if stereo is the way to go...Usually the stereo thing doesn't come across live, so maybe a Gemini 1 now, and another down the road.. -

Thanks JLondon. I won't be needing any use of PA or acoustic amp... L2 does sound good on its own for the modeling alone.. I am on my 2nd day with the helix and LOVING it.. the more tweeking, the better t sounds.. Having trouble finding killer chorus sounds...Downloaded freeman bigback and Choptones rock vol 2... through my studio monitors just killer and fun..so easy to program.. -
Thnaks...I got it to load up. Getting around on the Helix is actually getting easier and easier, and the more I tweek, the better it sounds...Just not sure of the difference between IRs and cab sims..are they the same thing??
-
Just got my Helix LT, purchased the Freeman Big pack...I think I successfully loaded up the presets, but am not having the same luck with cab sims/ IRs that come with it. All of the Cab sims and Ir's in the download are WAVE file... WTH?!?!?!? I watched the short tutorial video on how to transfer (not helpful at all) I thought if i purchased these presets and IR's/Cabs, my Helix should be able to have all of thoise sounds..What am I missing ??? Have yet to make this thing sound good..I cannot figure this out...HELP!!!!

Thanks Colonel! Appreciate the in-depth and detailed feed back.. Your set-up is far more than I would ever need. The Freidman looks like their version of the Mission Engineering cab (I bet it sounds amazing!!) I really think I'm gonna go the Mission route ($500) as there will be no additonal eq-ing needed to compensate for harsh high-end and mushy lows.. I'm technically challenged, to put it lightly...Just want to plug and go! -

I didn't know there was a difference in tone between 1/4 vs digital, etc... I'll put it another way...I've read that there is more tweaking to the High/low cut-off with a "PA" style monitor/speaker (highs too crispy/harsh. a little boomy..) From what I can tell MEG 1 is a frfr specifically designed for modelers (Highs already sound more natural, low-end not woofy) .. Other than what I've seen/heard on youtube, both sound great, L2M a bit scooped, but nothing a bit of fine eq-ing... This is my best take on it, just looking for a few outside opinions form experience... -

StageSource L2m vs Mission Engineering Gemini 1 for Helix LT... Anybody have any experience with either? I can get either for the same price, (Unfortunately cannot try them out first..). I'm leaning towards the Mission cab...Thoughts? Recommendations?
