Well, it can be a random problem, but I know other guys with exactly same problem! If your device has no noise, you're a lucky guy.

Mic comparison:

the vx can be connected to a pc or mac and you can charge your ios device while connected, otherwise is the same device specs.

White noise is unavoidable and we have to deal with it, but when it is too much, no 24 bit can save us! The only way is to feed the mics with a strong sound source so the noise seems lower... ...or make low distance recordings with the proximity effect.

I thought I was alone at first... I made test videos stating this problem to line6 but they say there's no processing on their audio. I bet there is!!! There's no way they can record audio with this device without white noise. You notice that audio is processed. A friend of mine has exactly the same problems.

I had the same problem with mine, I think it's a device issue, maybe an analog preamp with cheap components (noisy). I sent it to a friend of mine so he can see if there is a solution. If it is no solution and it gets broken, no problem at all, I have the original sonic port that is pratically the same without mics.

I have the original and the new sonic port and yes, both have lower input levels than other interfaces I have. The mics of this new version sucks, too much noise on them. I thought it was a problem of my device but a friend has the same problems, it's a bad piece of gear, forget about quality here. I would like to ear a mic demo of someone out of line6, has I believe they use some kind of audio processing on their videos. It's impossible they can reach son low background noise on the recordings.

Of course, the position is fundamental but it's never so notorious. First I'm in the middle and you can hear a very strange stereo image. This device has some serious problems, I'm going to send it back!

Ok,, I was using the Sonic port cable I had but using the lightning that came with the interface worked just fine. When you say low noise, there are levels that are acceptable. Believe me, line6 youtube demos has that noise, don't you ear it? I understand that with several instruments playing it's hard to notice, but record an acoustic guitar only on a closed room and you'll ear the pink noise, it's too present! Received my Soic Port VX and noticed 2 problems already... Mics are too noisy, not acceptable pink noise It doesn't charge Ipad mini retina or the Ipod 5g with the external charger connected. It was too good to be true, indeed...
