I can't speak for the M13 but I got my Ernie Ball Passive volume pedal to work as expression pedal for my M5. It's a very simple mod: solder a 10k resistor between tip and sleeve of the connector jack. It might not be a perfect expression pedal but it works good enough for me.

Sorry to reanimate this very old thread but I have a question: I just bought an M5 and hooked it up to my computer to update the firmware but it didn't work. I thought it is not that important anyway... but I wanted to ask which firmware actually would be the latest. Mine has Version 1.0.0 Is there a major update I am gonna miss if I don't update? Something important such as additional effects or improvements? Cheers!
