Ok cool thanks for the reply

I have a question about the dt 2.0 firmware update.......... I picked up a 1to 1 midi usb interface today because I want to do the firmware update...... However since I have the pod hd500x I don't want to change anything with the amp as far as how it is set up stock right now.......... I am happy with the 4 voicings/ 2 channel set up it has as just the amp and if I want something different I use the pod500x, but I would like the option to change things in the future if I decide to do so without the pod....... My question is.... If I do the firmware update will it change any of the sounds/settings or anything until I actually go in and change it around via an editor program or midi controller........ Just asking incase it would be in my best interest to just leave it as is

Noted looks like I have one about 3 hours away that isn't too bad....... But honestly I want everything to be done right..... I'd rather put in alittle extra to know I'm good for sure
-
I use basic effects mostly to be honest....... But now that I've had the 500x a few weeks I can't help but wonder what the helix is about....... Honestly I kinda thought there would be more to the 500x the way people make it sound so complicated...... Honestly it's just a few amp models and your choice normal effects lol but it is cool how it integrates with the dt

Do you know or have any suggestions for where to go? I live in knoxville tn ... And do they make the eh tubes in anything other than medium as long as I get the eh 12ax7eh and eh el34eh am I in the clear

Hey psark I'm gonna buy an extra set of tubes for my dt50 I don't have a line6 service center anywhere remotely close to me at all so I want to make sure I have the correct ones for the local amp guy in town when I do need them changed. https://tubedepot.com/tubes_by_amp/DT50?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&adpos=&scid=scplp361standard_tube_set&sc_intid=361standard_tube_set&gclid=CjwKCAjw07qDBhBxEiwA6pPbHi8N-8ElCCCJk4-AXRV8KXWy0qH2GyImsAX6cSChmOQEloOVhGoKghoCOv8QAvD_BwE I was gonna order from here and they let you choose whether tubes you want however I noticed when I pick electharm12ax7eh and elctroharmEL34eh they don't have an option for medium....... Is that usually a spec I need to watch out for, or as long as I pick the eh tubes they are speced correctly?

Ahhh thank you for clearing that up I had kinda figured out what it did by process of elimination but I guess what was stumping me was the fact I only had one amp and I couldn't really figure out what the the point of it was but that makes total since now lol....... if I had had a few more dt amps I probably would have figured that out on my own lmao but anyway thanks for your patience and clearing that up unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be buying multiple amps the single dt 212 suits me just fine the only thing(s) I could see me buying in the future is possibly a variax and maybe a soundsource speaker probably the soundsource before the ax because my guitars seem to suit me fine and I honestly don't use but like 10% of the functionality of the pod lol

Yes thank you that does help but it think I need to explain my left/right/amp a / amp b question alittle better........ As far as the choices there if I pick left or right or both.......( I usually pick both so I have both the chains going to my single dt amp).......... Whatever I do to the chains gets ran through the dt effects etc........ But what exactly does it do if I don't choose the left or right or both and choose either amp a, amp b, or both....... Does it just emulate the models of the amps without any effect(s)? Or does it maybe run the chain up to wherever you have the amp model set and stop it there (so basically no post effects)...... Thanks for the input it helps alot

I hope this is in the right forum it kinda portains to the dt50 also so I thought here was appropriate sorry if I am wrong.......... Ok so I got the hd500x for my dt50 and Ive read everything and studied and played with it and feel like I have a pretty good understanding of how everything works and all but there are a few things I'm alittle cloudy about....... In the 500x setup menu on page 9/12: l6 audio, what is the difference between left and right vs amp a and amp b........ and could someone explain what happens if I am using line 6 link and put two amp models in the chain but am only using one dt50 amp? I understand the dt50 topologies will use the amp a model but then what is exactly going on with the other one? Is it cancelled out and no point of running two amp models really with a single dt or does it still add a simulation with no topologies and converted to mono? I thought at first if you turned off the amp a model it would switch to amp b but it doesn't it switches to b channel on the dt50 itself which doesn't use 500x amp models it uses the stock ones as far as I can tell.... Thanks for the answers in advance

Well I almost pulled the trigger on a helix.......... But honestly the more I thought about it the more it bothered me it was just so flipping expensive (that's a big expense for me)..... Then I ran across a used 500x for $250 so I decided to just go ahead and grab that up use it for awhile and after I get to where I can use it decently I'll make a trip to the local gc or rushes music and give a helix a try if I really think it's that much better I'll buy it then and won't really be losing much on the pod500x....... I'm sure I could resell it for almost what I have In it...... I honestly don't use a whole lot of effects of extra sounds so I'm thinking the pod will do me fine for now anyway
-
Oh ok got ya
-
So what exactly does the line6 link do does it basically take the need away for having cables running to and From the effects loop and what not? Or does it do something else that it can't do while connected that way?
-
Ok so now that I have my dt amp I'm wanting to get an effects unit for it....... At first I was looking at the 500x but then I realized at some point l6 did a update so the helix could be used so that brings me to my question...... Does the helix work with a dt50 the same way a hd500x does as far as compatibility........ Honestly I don't think I could afford a helix anyway but I figured I'd ask just in case I could run across a used one for a decent price........ And if I did decide on the 500x are those still pretty relevant machines I know they have been out awhile but so has the Dt amps at this point and I wouldn't trade my dt50 for anything I love it.....
-
Cool thanks for looking it up for me I think I'm gonna stick with it..... I like it alot hopefully it will last a while
-
Ok cool yea I got it for 500 actually from what I can tell it seems like it barely has been played it still has that new smell to it.......I don't think it has ever been played long enough to really get warmed up
-
Ok so I feel alittle rediculous posting yet another ( probably dumb question) but the person I bought the amp from has given me the opportunity to return if I feel it doesn't work properly so I just want to make sure it's alot of money for me..... I'm pretty sure this is my last concern....... Ive noticed when I turn on the on switch, the board will light up and all but the voicing selector, class ab/a switch, and the pentode/triode switch has no lights...... Then I'm going to say 5-10 seconds or so passes and I can hear a click and they will light up and function correctly...... Is this normal opporation? Does it have to do with it warming up maybe?
-
Thanks for the reply...... There's alot of little tricks like this that will really help me out...... I'm still learning about tube amps...... Man the sound difference is amazing......but since these dt amps are getting older now I'm sure they are gonna require some maintenance........ Honestly I think I'm gonna leave it be because I friend of mine has a Randall ss amp and it makes more noise than the Dt does so I think I'm ok...... The only popping I get is sometimes when I switch it off it will do alittle pop other than that it is just once I let it warm up and switch it off of standby there is a bit of just "white noise" with or without volume..... Most amps have alittle but I noticed my spider amp has little to none
-
Yea I actually turned all the lights out and I could see a very faint glow coming from them..... Lol thank you..... One thing I noticed between the dt50 and my spider 3 the dt50 has alot of just "blank" noise when nothing is being played...... Not terrible but I can hear a bit of hiss and a slight hum I guess..... Is it normal for tube amps to make alittle more noise it my first tube amp so I don't really know what to expect overall..... I remember when I was younger I had a 2x12 ss crate amp that was even louder than the Dt so idk I just thought I'd ask in case something wasn't right?
-
I do have one question it seems to work well and all channels and all switches change things and what not but from what I can tell I only see two tubes lighting up ( I haven't actually taken any covers off to see good)..... I thought I read somewhere that this amp had four tubes in it do the other two not stay lit up constantly or light up at all?
-
Well I went ahead and took a gamble on it and bought it the guy came down to 500 so I don't think I could have done better really and it seems to function properly would you mind checking it still for me I'd kinda like to know even tho I already bought it Pn 59-00-0072-5 Sn (21)A891S6040000987

Oh never mind I misread your post I just realized you said that you could look it lol...... I asked for a more detailed picture of the back of the amp via text message as the one on the ad was too blurry to make out..... when I spoke with them on the phone seemed like a nice person and said if I needed any more pics to let him know so I should be able to get it for you pretty soon I'd appreciate it alot

Where would the serial number be located? And how would I look up the service history? I had no idea I could do that...... Sounds like a good idea seeing how it would let me know if they were lieing or not about just having it serviced

So I've been on a hunt for a new(to me) amp for a bit........( I'm still using a spider 3 150 and decided to upgrade a level or so) so I wanted a Tube amp but wanted to stick with line 6 so I figured dt50 or 25 is my best bet...... Well I look on craigslist and their is a dt50 212 in very good condition and claims to have just been serviced for $550... Can you guys give me some opinions on this does it sound like a reasonable deal? Is there any reason I should pick a dt25 over the dt50 I know they don't really make the 50 anymore and still do the 25????? Thanks for the input I appreciate it
