The other reason I can think of for wanting to do this is to go from tightly-synced-to-tempo delays to doing delay-time-pitch-bend effects, using a footpedal as the equivalent of reaching down and twisting the Time knob on a pedal. (At least, that's why I'd want to do this....) A delay calculator isn't going to help with that.
