Hey,
I recently came across a problem concerning the IR loader within Helix Native (and possibly the physical versions as well) and I need some input on that.
So I usually use third party IRs for my sound. Up until now it was mostly Own Hammer IRs and some others. A few weeks ago I bought a cab sim from Getgood Drums, which I use as a VST but it also comes with the option to export any cab setup as an IR. However, when I load these IRs into the Helix IR block, they sound all thin and fizzy. I first thought it had something to do with the quality of the exports but it turns out that external IR loader VSTs don't add that fizzyness to the IRs (I used NadIR in this case).
It's not only audible but very visible in graphical EQs. As you can see in the attatchment, there is a very present notch in the 15k-20k range in the original impulses, which disappears using the Helix IR block. There are also more subtle changes all around the EQ band but they are hard to see, it's easier to hear the difference.
So, what's going on here? I figure it must have something to do with the way the Helix imports impulses into their file format but how exactly does it work and is there a way to fix this? I have not tested it with my LT yet because it's at our rehearsal spacebut I assume the problem will be the same.
Cheers
