    OK, but just to clarify - mine is a Variax 1, and it’s currently dead after a previous firmware update attempt. The test with Variax2 was just to test and now confirm that the computer and connection are not the issue; something seems to have gone wrong during the firmware update itself. Any other idea?

    I was able to test another Variax (Variax 2) on the same computer (Windows 7) I used to attempt the suggested firmware update on my Variax (Variax 1). The Variax 2 is detected correctly. I can confidently conclude that the issue is not related to the computer or setup. Variax 1 Variax 2

    What is strange is that I could see the Variax initially on my (Mac OS - 15.6.1) and after trying to perform the suggested firmware update the Variax is silent and not seen anymore.

    Thanks for the reminder! Both LEDs are green and everything is properly connected.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I can see my Variax USB interface on Line 6 Central but not my connected Variax. I could see my Variax initially, but not after I tried to update the firmware from Line 6 Central ... Any other suggestion or idea?

    I have tried on a Win 10 computer, Line 6 Monkey doesn't see the connected Variax - see below. From what I understand that would be the workaround: Identify the specific EPROM, locate it on the board, and desolder it. Use a programmer compatible with that type of EPROM. Obtain the firmware to flash. Could you help me to clarify? Many thanks

    I have a Mac OS Sequoia but managed tried this on a Windows computer, install Line 6 Monkey and tried this workaround but Line 6 Monkey couldn't see the Variax Connected to the USB box.

    I just ran into the same issue. Line 6 Central was working fine — it detected my Variax USB interface and my Variax 500 without any problems. Then it prompted me to do an update, which I went ahead with. The update failed, and after restarting as suggested, my Variax no longer produces any sound. Now I can’t seem to get Line 6 Monkey to run in order to reflash it, so I’m a bit stuck on how to fix this. Any ideas?
