  1. *EDIT* JUST AFTER POSTING THIS I FIGURED IT OUT... I DID A FACTORY RESTET THEN EXECUTED THE BACKUP AND IT WORKED.

HELP! I followed all the directions to a "T", and still got screwed... I updated to 3.1 and now HX EDIT wont execute my back up; it stops in the middle of the back up with an error message "Failed to get favorite names/Timeout waiting for a response from device (CODE- 8212) and Error occurred during the restore: Time out waiting for a response from device...

Now my Helix is wiped clean, and I cannot get my back up. WTF!!!

of course I see your "backup" file in your screenshot - so never midn the "do you have a backup" quesiton.

Are you trying my ideas?  I'm trying to help you out...

OH and if you're on a mac, that can be a problem too.  macs seem to keep old versions of hx edit and due to how the OSX filesystem links filenames to executables, it can actually get confused because line6 doesn't put version numbers in their filenames.

So sometimes it helps to delete the old hx edit installer (look in downloads or similar, or search entire drive for them in temp or other locations, you'll have to google that part yourself), delete completely (including empy trash), adn then redownload 3.01.0 and try installing again.

Thank you for your help... just after freaking out and posting that post, I figured it out. I did a factory rest, then executed the back up and it worked :)

      oh SWEET!  That's great news!

No problem - at the very least it's handy stuff to keep in an email somewhere.

      Cheers!
