  1. Its like 80s video games man. go to the left of the screen, put on the red jewel and crouch for 30 seconds. Only we wont tell you that. :D thanks though, now that I know the secret procedure to get to level 3 I can buy model packs.
  2. I've tried to buy PODfarm a few times and model packs several times. It has been over the course of many years, and it has never worked. This particular time, it wants a shipping address for a digital download. OK, sure. So it wants me to enter a state, which I do. Then it tells me that Colorado, USA, 80909 is a province in Canada and that I should use a State instead. O_o
  3. But the Store wont work. I wonder how much L6 loses in sales to this stupid lollipop website. I have tried to buy many things, and it never works. Tomorrow I will think better of it and say "screw the Metal Shop pack, I dont need it".
  4. How are you plugging into the amp? Going into the front panel negates the purposes of using a full range amp/speakers, since you are instantly coloring the tone with the acoustic-voiced preamp. Going into the FX return is the way to get a pure signal to the power amp(s). Since you are having feedback issues, my guess would be that you are in fact plugging into the front end, and the preamp that is expecting an acoustic guitar is pumping tons of high end gain for a signal that isnt there through the speakers, creating a perfect opportunity for feedback.
  5. My first guess whenever a computer based device is restarting by itself is heat. Do you have the XT in a drawer or other enclosed space? Is it particularly hot in your neck of the world right now? Do you have it in close proximity to other gear that generates heat, even a little bit? Litmus test = pout it on a table or desktop with nothing near it, put a little fan on it, and play for a few, see if it still restarts.
  6. Surprised no one mentioned that it isnt an Ethernet port. It is an RJ45, but that doesnt mean ethernet. There is no networking involved, and plugging cable from your router to your POD wont do anything but maybe blow it up. (lol, not really.... probably......) The RJ45 is only for the foot controllers. The POD 2.0 ONLY talks to the PC itself, and only via MIDI. You need an actual MIDI interface for this, as most USB->MIDI converters a complete joke.
  7. Is true that you can do this, and the HD300 takes pedals out front fairly well.... but I must say that using the Screamer or another OD/distortion model into any of the high gain amp models in the HD300 should get you a crushingly heavy sound that no pedal alone will even come close to.
  8. I am confused on what you want to use the POD for. It doesnt have stomps, so putting it in front of an amp wont accomplish anything good. You dont want to model amps, which is pretty much all the Pocket Pod does. You can run cabs and post FX, but you'd want to do that after the amp. (whether "the amp" is real or modelled) I dont think there is an appropriate way to connect a Pocket POD as a post-amp FX device. I spose you could just take the preamp out or whatever you are currently using to the mixer and go amp->pod-> mixer instead. TO me, it seems like you have two separate solutions that each work fine by themselves, and you are tying to make them work together, for some reason that isnt immediately clear. You could just go guitar-> pod-> mixer, using the full capabilities of the POD. You could just go AMp-> mixer-> IR loader for cabs on the DAW, and not use the POD at all. Both will accomplish the same thing.... putting them together will make everything more complex and not add any functionality. That I can see anyway. Perhaps if you clear up exactly what it is you want to do.....
  9. Looking around it seems there is a lot this thing does that is tied to accounts/online things. I am perfectly fine with just using the default options unless I want to buy the upgrades... but I want to be sure I can buy and use them when/if I want to. With the HD 300, I have it registered to my account and all that - is this possible with a used device? can I update it and all that good stuff? Is there anything I should know/look for/not do/etc? Thanks. \o/
  10. your wrong is wrong. :D Seriously, its semantics for the most part. What we each call "tone" is a different thing. I agree with Jeffsco. Tone is in the gear. Sound/style/mojo/etc is in the player. You can substitute whatever words you want since none of them really have a standard definition. To use an extreme example - if I am playing metal into a clean JC120 with no distortion pedals or processing of any kind, I am not going to get a good metal tone. I might play the parts well, I might have the aggression, attack, technique all down pat, but it wont sound right becuase the tone isnt right. Nothing I do with my fingers is going to change that. If its James Hetfield, or Devin Townshend, or any other metal rhythm player you think is the bees knees... he still wont have the right tone with that rig. He might SOUND just like himself, but his TONE wont be right at all. Nothing he does with his fingers will change that. Now, give me and James the same high end, high gain rig, tuned for metal, and you will see where the fingers matter. James will wipe the floor with me, and it will be entirely based on teh fingers, becuase everything else is equal. The tone coming from the amp will be the same, the sound of me and the sound of James will be very different. So, call those things what you like. Call the first one "processing" and the second one "tone" if you like. Call them both "tone" and further muddy the waters if you like. :D The fact remains that what comes out of the amp is not at all solely dependant on what you do with your hands. Signal processing/manipulation, be it digital modelling or old lollipop analog tone and gain stacks, make a crucial difference to what comes out of the amp.
