Great post. I've been running my HD500 into the FX in on my amp and I noticed that an empty patch would get quieter as soon as you added an amp into the signal chain (in the default position). I want to go back and check how my inputs are setup and see if they are "1:Guitar 2:Variax" or "1:Guitar, 2:SAME".
