MickKnipfler
OK so my Sonic Port VX arrived this morning. I downloaded the driver, plugged it in to a USB port and......nothing. No sound through the headphones when I play a video on Youtube, no sound when I plug a guitar in and play it. Please assume, I know absolutely nothing......... MickKnipfler
When I plug it in to my USB port, it actually stops Youtube from playing
fflbrgst
You have to select the Sonic Port as your default audio playback device in Windows.
MickKnipfler
Doesn't it just recognise it? Also, how do I get different amps & effects? Mobile POD looks as though it's only for ios
MickKnipfler
If I go into my Audio Manager, it shows my Sonic Port as my default device and then locks up saying 'Windows ShellCommon Dll is not responding'
MickKnipfler
My POD HD500 works fine BTW
MickKnipfler
If I go to the Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices application, it says 'no devices connected'
MickKnipfler
When I first plug it in to a USB port, a red light comes on but then goes off. Is that correct?
Brazzy
Install the VX drivers before plugging it in as per the manual. Check out the manual See this>>>

Brazzy
Yep did that....then ran the exe file to install the driver Oh wait that didn't work? Did you ever plug the VX in before installing the driver? Edited October 22, 2014 by Brazzy
MickKnipfler
I did but then unplugged it before loading the driver
Brazzy
Maybe you need to uninstall whatever windows installed automatically first and start over. You can use USBDeview in administrative mode to uninstall the driver in question and then restart your computer and install the correct driver (maybe you should restart again) and then plug the VX in. Might be an easier way though.
MickKnipfler
OK, there are 2 created today. One is the Sonic port. Maybe I should delete both and start again.....

Wont hurt to uninstall both, restart and reinstall. Just make sure you run usbdeview in admin or the uninstall won't happen.
MickKnipfler
OK, that worked. I can now hear Youtube through the device and also play my guitar at the same time (although youtube is a lot louder do I've had to turn it right down. The next questions, is what do I use so I Can get some effects and better guitar sounds? I think the mobile app only works with ios

MickKnipfler
Yes I saw that. Not a lot of point really making the device windows compatible but not the supporting software. Isn't there some freeware like amplitube I can use though?
Brazzy
There might be some free software. You could download the free version of RiffWorks T4.

MickKnipfler
I'm still having problems. I plug my sonic port in but youtube still plays through the laptop speakers. I can't hear anything from my guitar either
