357mag
I've decided to try and experiment with adding a compressor to my chain. Should I put it before the Overdrive or after? And how do I go about setting the Threshold and Level? I'm looking to punch up my sound a bit and help decaying notes last a bit longer. stumblinman
I put it at the beginning of my chain before anything else so I'm compressing/sustaining a clean signal with no extra noise from effects. A compressor will amplify any signal, including distortion hiss, so before dirt pedals is always a good idea. If you use single coils, you may want to put a noise gate before the compressor, but that's personal preference. As far as settings, that depends on what type of guitar, pickups etc. My settings vary depending on which patch it's used in. You will have to tweak until YOU find what you like. Happy hunting! 357mag
Thanks. I'll put it before my Overdrive. I'm using a Strat with Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Blues pickups.
