Howdy folks!!

You'll have to excuse me, I generally find what I am looking for just searching through... so this is my first time posting here (or i can't remember if i have posted or not), sorry if something simular has already been covered

I am working on trying to come as close to the tone in this song as I can... with little to no luck.

Maybe I am just too much of a newb with this.

What I have is the Pod HD 500 into the DT50 head using the L6 link.

Guitars:

usa strat hss deluxe

usa tele standard

usa prs swamp ash special

The closest I get is with my strat ... but that is due to the guitar and not the poor ability of mine to work with the unit.

Sometimes I think about just getting back to an old tube amp with stomp boxes (less is more) ...

but i think (after hearing from so many others) that with this set up I could do so much more.

With this equipment I think I would have the ability to pull this tone off...  /cry  ...  : )

Has anyone come up with a tone for this song that they would be willing to share?

any recomendations would be lovely too!!

More details if you will. What Amp model are you using?pre or full? Output settings?

Thank you very much!!

This video doubled with a nice guide by MeAmBobbo has REALLY helped!

Simply:

I am now using the Brit j-800 Pre (set at about 50% drive) with a screamer in front for solos and pre EQ @ 20% drive.

With just this the tone is great.

To add more to it what I have done now is:

  • Dual amps so I can use Dual Cabs for their characteristics, I am using the cabs MeAmBobbo talked about: Hiway and the XXL 4x12
  • Both Pre-Amps are set 50% for Drive, EQ's, Pres
  • The only Cab parameter I adjusted was the Decay and I cranked this to 100% ... everything else is the default settings.

I would link the tone but I am not sure how to do that in the forum.

Could you maybe link an audio or video clip with the SRV tone that you dialed in? I'm looking for a good one, too!

Thanks,

Jeff

Hello Jeff,

I uploaded the tone to custom tone. Here's the link:

http://line6.com/customtone/tone/224782/

Let me know what you think!!!   I am really curious as to how I did.  :D

For this song (including solo) I use the neck pickup on my strat.

Also I notice HUGE differences in my tones if my HD500 is run to another amp instead of the DT w/ L6 link...

I am actually going to use one of the set lists in the pedal to copy every tone and set them all up for my other tube amp (what if the DT50 went down during a show  :o  I need my Carvin VT50 to sound good)
