What's in this patch? (I can't open)

Hello Line6 community!

I'm trying to dial in a patch. It's the lead guitar tone in the beginning of Dredg's Bug Eyes:

Now, a guy on Youtube has gotten pretty damn close with his POD, and has posted the patch online:

Download the patch here:

http://line6.com/customtone/tone/207690/

The problem is that I'm trying to re-create that patch on an AXE FX II, and I suck at creating patches. I just can't get anything sensible together just by ear. I can't open the patch with Line 6 Edit because I don't own a Line 6 interface anymore and my old Spider III isn't of any help.

So, Line6 community, I'm asking if one of you could open the patch for me and tell me what it ate? What is the signal chain there? So I can get a decent patch together!

Hi Brazzy! Thanks a lot! But just when you posted this and I started to craft a patch of my own, a fellow user at Fractal Audio Forums pretty much nailed it in a way I could never hope.

I mean, just listen to the attachment.

I first thought it was a troll, since it sounds too good; it really sounds 100% like the original, but jesus m'fin christ, it really is a patch, and it sounds exactly like that. I still have a hard time believing it. Whoa.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your contribution!

also here at the POD HD forum we are having a hard time believing that an Axe-FX II can sound as good as an X3 :o :o :o

Hurr durr derp derp =D

It's amazing actually how close to the original you can get with the Axe. Sometimes you really can't tell a difference. With HD I always could.

a certain person decided to give me a new multi-fx as a gift..

and told me that the choice is between an X3 Live and an Axe-FX..

well, it's not a so easy decision..

I would not want find myself at some point in my life trying to reproduce with the Axe-Fx what only an X3 can do to perfection..

and also, if someone were to steal the Axe-Fx I would be forced to prostitute myself to replace it .. assuming it would work

noooo... choosing a X3 seems a wiser decision

I love those pictures, lol. I still use my X3 Pro almost every day, along with my HD500 & KB37. Since I recently added a simple Xenyx Q802 USB mixer to my tool box I'm having more fun. Even the UX2 gets use on another computer.

now talking seriously here (no joke) ..

I think the X3 is a good device that can be very useful on several occasions and also it sounds good, although I prefer the HD mainly for the dynamics which are particularly important for me, and also for its flexibility..

You did well to keep the X3 Pro with you..  maybe I'll buy one to have more options

Thanks Man, I'm glad I still have the X3 and HD can pair together well. I hope you get what's on your wish list. :)

  • 2 years later...

So, im gonna be that guy. Ya know... Dredg up old posts... But, it's a little over two years later and there is not a single dredg patch to be found for the hd500x. This hurts my soul. The one posted for the 3 sounds outstanding but, im pretty sure you cant cross streams. Soooo, with that being said anyone have or care to update said patch for the hd500x in 2017?
