rcomeau
Hello I am very new with Line 6 products in general and this is my first pedalboard. So far really impressed. I also apologize if someone has posted an answer to this question on the board already , I just didn't really know what to search by . I was thinking it would be great to use the HD500x for both my guitar effects and vocal effects when Im on stage. From what Ive been seeing on youtube videos ( video link below for reference) ,For each guitar tone or patch I want to be able to sing along with, I need to create 2 channels on that patch. One channel would be for vocals , One for the guitar tone So with this being the case on how this needs to be setup, my questions really are 1. In the video , it shows how this is done by creating a new tone , Im guessing this would be possible as well if I wanted to edit and save to a user bank one of the "BEst of" tones that came with the HD500x and add in a channel for vocal too , or even get a custom tone off the website and add a secondary channel for vocal as well. 2. Can I get the outputs of each channel to go out of the HD500x sepearetly ? , that way if I wanted to run tehm to a mixer board I could control their volume levels independently ? 3. Is this the easiest way to do this ? before I found the video I was just thinking that I could plug in the microphone and globally no matter what preset I put the guitar on, the mic would stay clean, but I dont believe thats how this works as when i did end up getting the mic to work as a secondary input if i switched to a distortion preset my vocals were distorted , I now understand that was proably because that patch or distortion preset only had one channel. Any help would be appreciated . Thanks
silverhead
Here's a preset that you can start experimenting with. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/215659/ The preset structure keeps the signal paths completely separate, and pans them fully at output so your DAW can record both processed signals on separate tracks. Keep the structure the same and replace/relocate amp/FX in each path as desired.
rcomeau
Hey thanks Silverhead Im a little new at panning as well so just a quick follow up Q , does panning the outputs to the left and to the right for seperation of outputs on teh back of the HD500x do anything to the signal that goes into the mixer for live sound or at home into the DAW ? Im guessing they would just be new inputs that go into the Daw or mixing board and from their in the daw or mixingboard you can LCR pan them , it makes no difference how they are panned going into the source ? Would I be correct in assuming that ? Thanks again !
silverhead
That's correct. They are essentially two mono signals going into your DAW and from there you can pan them as desired in the overall mix. And within the HD500x processing it's best to avoid stereo FX since the signal in each path will be mono on exit from the HD500x.
