guitarcozmo
Just got the PodStudio UX2 yesterday and have some cheap desktop speakers I can run out of the headphone jack for monitoring, but wanted to inquire as to thoughts on a different option - I have an old Ibanez bass amp sitting around, an SWX-65. I was wondering if by chance that could be used as a monitor in a pinch? The amp has the following inputs: A standard 1/4" input, an RCA CD/mp3 input, and a 1/4" FX loop return. It has a 12" (80W rms / 160W max, 4 ohms) speaker and a piezo tweeter. I know it wouldn't be the best option for monitoring, but sound wise and volume wise, I feel like it'd be a better option than the desktop speakers. At least until I can get some actual monitors for it. Any thoughts?
Triryche
Yes, you could use it. But if you are recording via USB the sound you hear while you play will greatly differ from your recording. Easiest connection would be Left out to one of the 1/4" ins. If you use the guitar input you will need to be careful with the level coming out of the UX so you don't come in too hot. If you use the FX Return it will bypass the amp's preamp, you should still watch the levels coming out, but it is not as easy to clip as the preamp. guitarcozmo
Okay, cool. I know there will be some difference in the actual sound quality and frequency range and such, but I figure this will give me a little bit better volume for monitoring until I can get some actual quality monitors. Thanks for the info!
