leesteel
Just wondering if anyone here has used a Variax 700 Acoustic with their HD500X yet?
Charlie_Watt
Yes I have. Not often but I have an old Variax acoustic and I have played it through my HD500X. Sounds great. The acoustic models are very good - far better than on my JTV69S. Probably because it is more like an acoustic guitar in the first place. leesteel
Thanks for responding Charlie! I just bought a 700 and it's set to arrive today. I particularly like the idea that there is a slider to control the mix between pairs of strings in the 12-string voices.
Charlie_Watt
IMO the 12 strings are still not that real sounding on the 700.
Leftzilla
I would have to agree with Charlie Watt on this one. While the acoustic emulations in the VAC 700 were far superior to the VAX 700 and the feel of the instrument is great I felt the two 12 string emulations left a little to be desired. However my kybd player is working with it for some recording and we will see what he has to say.
leesteel
Hated it, could not get a good tone. Could not even get close to the same great tone I get from position 1 on the Variax 500. It was a useless purchase and it's right back on eBay where I got it from.
stevekc
If you ever get near an Antares ATG-1 - its worth checking out - excellent Acoustic 12 string emulation - works best with a Godin LGX-SA or other 13 pin guitars http://www.autotuneforguitar.com/products/atg-1.php
