Hotfuzz56
Hey guys, I recently bought a POD HD Desktop (Bean) and had no problems for the first few days. However recently a few things have cropped up. The worst one was the Pod behaving very strangely - patches wouldn't transfer and it wasnt recognized by POD HD Edit. I fixed this by reinstalling the latest firmware drivers and changing the USB port the pod is plugged into and the problem seems to be fixed. The 2 major problems Im still having are still rather annoying. The first is that when the POD is disconnected/turned off while POD HD edit is open, my entire PC freezes (it becomes completely unresponsive). The other issue is to do with Ableton Live 9 (my recording software). When I change patches or open up the POD's onboard tuner, Ableton no longer recognizes the POD as an audio device, and Ableton itself starts acting very strangely (not playing tracks, highly unresponsive, etc.). This often leads to another system crash. Any help with these issues would be hugely appreciated as I've spent a lot of time trying to fix these problems with no luck. Cheers :)
davidb7170
Sounds like you found your 1st problem's solution. Your second major problem is exactly what I would expect if you shut down or disconnect your POD HD before exiting the POD HD Edit program. The program is communicating with your hardware (the POD HD) and it is suddenly missing -- the USB communications is disrupted and your PC is waiting for an answer from the missing hardware. ALWAYS shut down your software before turning off your hardware.... It keeps trying to communicate with something that is not there... It's like if some one on the other end of the phone hangs up on you, and you keep saying "hello? hello? hello?...." Your 3rd problem with Ableton, I don't know, as I've never had that software, but.... Are you running Ableton along with POD HD Edit up at the same time? I know that POD HD Edit doesn't "like" when you make a button change on the connected POD when the software is connected (such as the tuner, or changing a patch, or turning on of off an effect) on the hardware, and will freeze up the hardware and software (POD & Edit). If it freezes your POD and/or Edit SW, the USB communications will get frozen as well, screwing the pooch for any other SW using that communication path (Ableton). Old saying, "If it hurts when you do that -- don't do that..." Just some thoughts.... Dave
Hotfuzz56
Dave, thanks for the reply. I agree, the problem with POD Edit HD and turning off the Pod can easily be worked around by not turning off the pod while POD Edit is open. My current work around is to always leave the pod on while using my computer - I left the pod on all day yesterday with my PC and didnt come across any problems. I think I'll just the leave the POD on all the time, it seems to work fine :) As for the problem with ableton and pod edit, i'll try using ableton without pod edit, see if that helps. I was mainly worried that these problems were symptoms of a bigger issue, but everything seems ok with the workaround. Thanks for the reply :) Hotfuzz
NucleusX
Its still ok to run, or turn on/off the POD HD while connected via USB, just don't have Edit running.
