Thanks

Is it possible to run one of them in stereo? And if so, does it have to be the l3t?

And how does it sit with the "amp in the room" feel, I know that's a can of worms but will I be missing something switching from a mustang iii running into the fx return?

No, you can't run one in stereo. Although each speaker cabinet has two (L2t/m) or three (L3t/m) internal speakers/cones they are designed to be distinguished on a crossover frequency basis, not a stereo L/R basis. And even if they were designed for stereo the actual proximity of the internal speakers to each other wouldn't allow for much of a stereo field.

The sound you get from running the Firehawk in Line/Studio mode, including cab/mic simulations is meant to deliver the sound of a mic'd cab - similar to what you would hear in the control room of a studio. That's how recordings are made and that's how PA systems work. If you want the true feel of the amp in the room, then you need ... well.... an amp in the room. :P Whether and how much you personally will miss that 'feel' of course I can't say.

Yeah I get the amp in the room thing, I used to run my pod XT live through a wharfedale powered speaker which was entry level at £200 and I never missed the amp in the room sound but it was a big heavy wooden cabinet, in contrast more recently I ran a zoom g5 through an alto powered speaker and I really did miss the amp in the room feel but I sort of drew my own conclusion that it might be due to the plastic cabinet

Shame about the stereo thing though as that was my main reason for wanting the L3 over an l2, I realise gig wise I wouldn't create a stereo field with it but thought it might be handy when dialling in patches that might be sent left and right to foh
