FX loop basics

Hello everyone,

I bought a brand new Helix rack, and I am trying to add some pedals to the FX loops. I follow the directions word by word, but once I add the FX loop block into my preset; I have zero volume. Then, I assign the FX loop to one of the Helix control footswitches. When I select the loop, zero volume and when I deselect the footswitch; I get my volume back. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, so any advice, tutorials, or direction would be greatly appreciated.

The FX Loop in Helix is implemented in two ways:

- using a Send block and a separate Return block in the signal chain, which allows you to have a separate/different Send and Return points for the external components OR

- a single Send/Return block (also specifically called an FX Loop) which avoids the above separation and returns the signal to the same point from which it was sent.

Which option are you using, and how exactly are you cables connected? Include specifics about the Send/Return connection numbers you are using on the Helix rear panel.
