Rararabbits
Hi, I get this error when I start up my amp. I've tried a factory reset but it makes no difference. Is there any point my trying to do a firmware update or does this error message indicate that the internal RAM is zapped and I'd be wasting my time? Has anyone replaced the main circuit board in a Spider Jam themselves? Is it a particularly fiddly procedure?

Is there any point my trying to do a firmware update or does this error message indicate that the internal RAM is zapped and I'd be wasting my time? Has anyone replaced the main circuit board in a Spider Jam themselves? Is it a particularly fiddly procedure? I was reading this old thread and at the end someone said the ribbon wires that connect the boards together maybe need to be wiggled, taken off and put on to fix a connection that may've broke over time. Maybe you can get away with just carefully wiggling ribbon connections. I would do that to mine if I had that problem. If you don't feel you can safely open it up and do this go to someone who is experienced so you don't accidently hurt yourself. fullcompass.com has some parts available. Rararabbits
Thanks! I figured that would be my next step. I tried reinstalling the firmware but it won't recognize there's an SD card in the slot. Hopefully it's a loose connection rather than a fried circuit board. I see instructions for dismantling a Spider Jam on Joe's Jam Blog (via wayback machine) but the pictures aren't archived - I'm going to give that a go. Rararabbits
OK, successfully dismantled it (the hardest part was taking the big silver knob off!). No obvious loose connections but I pressed all the ribbon connectors firmly into place, blew out a little dust, removed a couple of strands of glue, and...it seems to be working!

Cool, glad it worked for you. Hope it stays working. I've had mine for 8 years now and it's been a great little amp to have fun with.
