FBV3 DOA? Can't tell?

Recommended Posts

So, I just got a Spider V 120 and a FBV3.

The FBV goes into some sort of diagnostic when you power the amp up (every time) and goes through a LED/LCD check then a buttons check.

All of the buttons check out, and the board says "All tests completed" or something similar.

Then it goes into some sort of "demo" mode and scrolls the LED's like a christmas tree while the LED dances a strange pattern.

The amp appears to work fine, and can be controlled from my iPhone, but the board never does anything but christmas tree patters and the LCD has weird little patterns all the time.

Is it defective or am I missing something incredibly simple/stupid to make it work?

Is it supposed to check itself every time you power it on?

The FBV3 should not do that with each use. I would first recommend trying to update to the latest firmware and see if that solves your problem.
You will need to hook up your FBV3 to a computer via USB, (a standard USB A/B cable) and then download the Line 6 Updater and go from there. Let me know if this is of any help!
