jvanick
I'm considering purchasing a Variax to use with my Helix... but I REALLY like to be wireless. so... my question is what do I give up if I use the Variax with the 1/4" output into my wireless and then into my Helix vs using the Variax Digital cable. I know I give up the 'switching and adjusting' features from the Helix, but do I give up any sound quality, reaction time, etc by going this route? Thanks! -J
jbuhajla
The sound/feel will be the same. You will just be missing out on the parameter control and interfacing of the Variax to/from the Helix.
silverhead
Line 6 advises against using the 1/4" and VDI outputs simultaneously. While some people report that they do this without any problems there is a chance that some circuitry will be overloaded, causing damage. jvanick
I wasn't planning on using them simultaneously.. just if there was any sound/latency bonuses to using the digital interface vs the 1/4" only. sounds like there's not? so I can still use my wireless. (fwiw... since it seems that at least all of the older relay series transmitters would talk to any of the receivers, it would have been nice to have included a relay receiver into the helix... one less box on stage)
