celtic_dude
So I wanted to start using my BBe Sonic exciter with my stagescape mixer. Is there a way to do an effects send/receive? Thanks!
silverhead
The M20d has no FX Loop. You could place the BBe pedal before the M20d - connect the input signal to the BBe first and then the BBe output into an M20d input channel. In this case the BBe signal processing would come before any M20d channel processing. Alternatively it might be possible to get the BBe pedal into play by routing a monitor output into the pedal and then back into a channel input. In this case the BBe signal processing would come after all M20d channel processing. Suppose the signal you want to route through the BBe pedal is the input to M20d Channel X. Setup a monitor, say Monitor D, and assign Chanel X and no other channel to the Monitor. Connect a cable from Monitor D output to the BBe input, and its output to an M20d unused input, say Channel Y. Unfortunately you will still hear the 'dry' signal from Channel X in the Mains output - you can't mute Channel X or else its signal will never reach the BBe. Caution: I've never tried this but it might work OK, although there may be some level mismatch. The Monitor Output level might not be what the BBe is expecting for an input signal. Rewolf48
If you are using it as master effect (on everything) then you could also insert it between the outputs from the M20d and the Power Amplifiers. You should be able to remove dry Channel X from the mains - the monitor mix and main mix can be unlinked - they default to linked so all outputs change together when you use the main faders, but when unlinked the monitor send level is independent from the mains, so the main mixer (level to mains) fader can be set to the bottom for zero level to mains without muting the channel. Monitor outputs can go up to +20dBu which is probably a bit high for most inputs (double the professional studio Line level) - I would start on zero and slowly raise the monitor output watching the level indicators on the BBe (if it has them - I don't think the pedals do) or listening carefully for any distortion.
