jrrjr68
I was wondering what method of recording the Helix produces the best results? Recommended preamp or recording direct to computer via USB? I have not tried USB yet because I was told a preamp we give you more head room for recording but I've noticed a considerable change in my tone by the time I track guitars. Currently using a Zoom r24 interface
silverhead
I prefer recording direct using Helix via usb as the audio interface. It eliminates a D/A and A/D conversion in the signal flow. Helix is also an extremely powerful and flexible interface with 8 in/out channels, supporting direct dry signal recording and easy hardware reamping.

Besides, with 24 bit recording, headroom is much less of an issue.
jrrjr68
Sounds legit to me. I kind of figured all of this technology would negate the old school techniques. Appreciate the input.
