ozoneivers
Hi there. I just bought the Helix and am trying out USB-recording with it. When I play with my headphones the sound is right, but when i record with DAW the quality and details are 30% less good than what I hear in my headphones when I play. I this a common problem? I have used two different DAWs with same result. Best regards, Øystein

When you listen to recordings from DAW, are you listening through studio monitor or the same headphones? Are the monitors/headphones plugged into Helix when listening to recordings? ozoneivers
I use the helix headphone-output for listening on both live and the recording 😊
tommasoferrarese
Make sure your headphones aren't monitoring both jack and xlr outs. That's in global settings. This would make the playback of your recording less powerful than your live playing, if USB 1/2 in is routed to xlr or jack only.
ozoneivers
I have tried different settings, same result. Test-file with recording: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7qHUvjaac9xclZkb3VPdk9IYWs Using "22D Another Stab" as preset. Sounds not as clear as what I hear in the headphone live. The helix output from headphones sounds more clear and nice
jbuhajla
What USB channels do you have DAW playback set on? If you are monitoring your DAW on USB 1/2 on Helix, you may have to adjust the level of USB 1/2 IN in global settings. Sounds like it may need to be turned up a bit. olivierJez
When you say "more clear", are you talking about a volume difference or some differences in the tone ? - The headphone volume, like the main output volume, have nothing to do with the usb output volume. You set that in the global parameters. There, basically you can add or remove some db, even having a different EQ on usb than headphone. Check if everything is set to zero on usb. Your preset may be to weak in volume. I have everything at zero in usb and don't have any problem. I usually have my headphone volume at 12oclock and the sound volume in recording not far off. Though if you use the monitoring input on the recording track it may sound louder because you ear the guitar twice in same time. - An other possibility is that your patch is using 2 channels output (like one amp in left, an other in right) so while recording, you would need 2 tracks. One listening to input 1, the other listening to input 2.... or 3... depending how the patch is set. Has your patch 1 simple straight line or few lines ? Check all of that, there is a good chance the problem is hiding there. Cheers
