CraigMcKee
Morning, I am completely new to this full stop. I've just acquired a POD HD500 and have no idea what I'm doing! I've downloaded all the software, plugged it into my laptop and got that working. I've found all the presets are a bit "funky". While I'm learning, is there anywhere I can download a bank of something a bit more "standard"? I'd like to set it up so I have Metallica distorted, System of a Down Heavy, Chillis Funk, Incubus Clean - do you know? That kind of thing while I have a play with it! Any pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated.
pianoguyy
I've found all the presets are a bit "funky". They aren't made to be used, otherwise every musician you hear would sound exactly alike. They were made to show capabilities. Also, because you are new, it is also quite possible that one of the numerous settings (that are not patch related) are not optimally set. pianoguyy
The easiest way to start using the unit (after you get your unit set up)... forget that it is a all-in-one digital device. Treat it like it is the physical devices. Choose an amp. Choose some pedals. Place them where you normally place them. Set them as you would normally set them. CraigMcKee
however one of the factory setlists is called "Variax" and contains some patches not bad at all, and most of them work as they are also with regular guitars.. Many thanks, I'll a look at these and see if I can figure it out. I thought I must have just gone to the wrong "playlists" because all 4 banks in all 16 were way OTT. I don't know how to change that though ;)
CraigMcKee
Thanks PianoGuy too!
CraigMcKee
if you are working directly on the device (no Editor) you can use the rotary encoder at the left of the display normally used to navigate through the patches one by one, to see all the setlists you have to press it, and then rotate it to move the pointer over the setlist you want (you can use also the nav buttons), and then press ENTER to select it I think that's it!! From what I've just been reading and seen, it would appear I've just been playing through FX Heavy so will try some of the other set lists and see what I get. pianoguyy
If you have upgraded to the latest firmware, there are 6 pre-populated setlists. If you only have 4, the Variax setlist won't be one of them.
joel_brown
And make sure to set Input 1 to guitar and Input 2 to something else like Variax. Otherwise you're input signal is too hot.
