jfm0257
So, I'm aware of the flaw with using the two. I know it would be double modulating, which takes away the quality, but not by much. I'm having a hard time coming up with a good metal distortion sound. I don't know if it's how I have it currently set up. Basically what I have set on the Amplifi is that there are no effects, and the amp is set to "no amp" at 50%. I also want to know if I should you the distortion on the amp effects, or should I set the amp to a "clean" amp patch, and use distortion pedal patch. ADBrown
There are definitely a few ways to set this up considering both devices have amp and effect modeling. I would try setting up an amp tone you like in Amplifi, and use the Firehawk FX just for effects, essentially as just a pedalboard. For metal tones I would start with a higher gain amp as opposed to a clean one with stompbox distortion. You can always add more gain to the amp with an distortion/overdrive effect if needed. A generic starting point for metal tones is to also "scoop the mids" meaning reduce the mids on the amps EQ and accentuate the bass and treble.
