Sparty33
Anyone been able to come up with Helix tone for a horn section or bagpipes? Thought the pipes would be cool for ACDC Log Way...
brue58ski
Try an E-Bow. http://www.ebow.com/home.php I have actually had bagpipes a couple of times when I've performed that song. It was so cool.

zivdud
Or a EHX Mel 9. I own the Synth 9 and it is pretty awesome. Will probable pick one of these up in the near future.
brue58ski
Boy I need to crawl out of my cave a little more. Never even heard of these things. The Aeon is even cheaper than the E-Bow but I think you can get more sound variations from the E-Bow. Like the "bowing" effect. The Mel 9 is very cool. Love that it's polyphonic. Just a bit too expensive for something I would intend to use but I'm old enough to know I wouldn't use it much. (Kind of like my E-Bow). These are all good solutions to your problem I think. Just depends on your taste.

brue58ski
What he's looking for is fairly specific but having said that, the chord drone thing would work well for this. Add the E-Bow/aeon and I think you''re as close as you're going to get for that song
zivdud
There is a couple other examples I found of people making there guitar into a bagpipe. Non seem to show how to do it though. There is always the midi route too but that is a whole other world. I love getting my traditional guitar tones but I also love getting any other sound of the instrument and figuring ways to write and perform with them. Sparty33
Thanks all. Just picked up the Ebow - going to start with that
LiamBlack
I think it’s time for me to switch to the electronic analog of the bagpipe, otherwise my neighbors are not happy with my model AJW. Although I go far enough so as not to bother anyone, in reality, the city is quite difficult, but I'm not getting younger :(
