FNFM94
Hi there fellow Helix Users! Although I have had my helix for quite a while I am trying to experiment with as many different sounds as I can & now I am in a new 3 piece band who do not have a regular bass player I thought it would be a great opportunity to explore what is out there for Guitarists who need there guitars to also sound like a bass without using any external pedals like a pog/pitch shifter in the helix FX loop.. so what ideas have you got for me if there are any other threads on this subject I do apologise & if you could please link me to them that would be great! I am looking for either a custom tone to download or a good way to start making the patch myself.. many thanks Frankie x
silverhead
The most obvious approach would be to use the Pitch Shifter FX block in Helix rather than an external pedal. Or are you talking about something more/different?
FNFM94
Thank you for your reply Silverhead I know there’s quite a few different effects for pitch shifting so didn’t really know what was the best one to use & if it was possible to get the sound of the bass notes whilst also getting the normal guitar sound at the same time.. would that be to do with the mix level on the chosen pitch effect? silverhead
Yes. The simplest FX block to use is the Simple Pitch FX. It has a Mix control. It should work better for Bass guitar than a regular guitar because it (and all Helix Pitch Shift FX) is primarily a monophonic FX meaning it handles one note at a time much better than it handles, say, a chord.
