TBone55
Hi There All, I am using the expression pedal of my HD500X to control the volume (Exp2) and Wah (Exp1). When I switch to the Wah setting my volume drops and I can barely hear the Wah. I realize that I'm losing my volume because of the switching but don't know how to set up the wah so this doesn't happen. Do I need to assign the volume to one of the effects block in order for this to not happen? Sorry if this might be a dumb lollipop question. Thanks for any help. TBone55
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the late response. I've attached the patch the way I have it set up now which works fine. I didn't explain myself properly in my post. The way I had it set up originally, I didn't have the volume pedal assigned to one of the effects block on the FX page. Instead, I assigned the EXP2 to the amp in the controller page. When I went to use the Wah which was assigned to EXP1 the volume dropped off so I could barely hear the Wah. Now that I've assigned an effects block to the volume pedal there is no drop off in volume. Is the volume supposed to stay at the max in either case when you engage the Wah or is this just a glitch in the POD? Thanks kindly for your help. TBone55
12 hours ago, hurghanico said: no glitch at all.. when using only the built in pedal for both wah and volume you have to accept the compromise that when you switch the pedal mode, the pedal reaches always its maximum value set before switching to the next mode.. a good solution would be to connect a 2nd expression pedal to the dedicated input.. doing so, there is no more need to switch the built in pedal expression mode (neither it would be possible in this case) and the toe switch can be used only to turn on/off the wah and/or other effects assigned to it, and both expression pedals remain where you leave them. moreover, in the above 2 physical pedals configuration, if you don't want that the wah starts from its maximum value when you turn it on, you could assing its on/off switching to a footswitch instead of the toe switch, doing so the wah filtering will start from the actual position of its dedicated pedal when you turn it on. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X Thanks, that makes sense. That's why I assigned an expression block to the volume pedal and the wah to exp-1. I have a separate wah pedal that I could plug into my POD. Thanks for your help with this. I probably should review the manual as well as it's been a while since I read it and worked with my POD.
TBone55
7 hours ago, hurghanico said: Ok.. if you have a wah pedal I suggest to connect it between the guitar and the POD Guitar In input, since usually the wah is the first effect in most typical chains.. But don't plug it into the "PEDAL 2" jack connector, given that over there you should plug only and exclusively an expression control pedal, which is totally different than a wah pedal. An Expression control pedal doesn't process any signal on its own, it serves only to control digitally the virtual effect assigned to it, and usually it is quite cheap to buy. In my previous advice to use the 2-physical-pedals-configuration I meant to say to add a 2nd expression pedal to be connected to the PEDAL 2 connector. By doing so the built in pedal works always and automatically as EXP1 (let say to control the virtual wah in the chain), and the 2nd expression pedal connected externally to the PEDAL 2 connector works always and automatically as EXP2 (let say to control the volume). The advantage of the above suggested configuration is that the volume set with the 2nd pedal doesn't change when you turn on the wah (as it happens instead when you use only the built in pedal), since the 2 pedals (EXP1 and EXP2) work simultaneously and independently of each other. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X Thanks for clarifying and for your help.
