drock3
My amp has 2 channels and a drive boost. I'm using my HX Effects to control these switches. Channel switching is on the ring, boost is on the tip. If I'm on the clean channel, boost does nothing. If I'm on the drive channel boost cranks up the gain. Here's the Problem: I have a preset setup that lets me control the drive channel with a footswitch. So lets say I turn it on. Now I switch to a "clean" preset. The HX Effect leaves the ring enabled, so my "clean" preset is actually running on the drive channel. I think the right way to set this up would be to use the Instant patch commands to turn off the ring when the patch is activated, but it looks like the instant commands can only be used to turn items on. Am I missing something?
phil_m
The Instant Commands will let you recall the state of EXT AMP footswitch per preset or per snapshot. That's the trick, though - you have to have the EXT AMP command assigned to a footswitch and as an Instant Command in order for it to work. And you have to have it in every preset. It sounds like you don't have the EXT AMP command set up in your clean preset.
drock3
I dont think that's right. Here's what I have setup to test: Preset 1: No foot switches, no instant commands Preset 2: Foot switch to control amp drive channel. No instant Commands Preset 3: Foot switch to control amp drive channel, instant command for drive channel Preset 4: No foot switches, Instant command for drive channel. Switching to 1 leaves the channel selected unchanged. So if it was on, it'll be on, if it was off, it'll be off. Switching to 2 changes the channel to whatever 2 has configured (eg if the foot switch was on when the patch was saved it'll be on) Switching to 3 is the same as preset 2, it's whatever the foot switch's state. The instant command doesnt seem to have any effect. Switching to 4 turns on the drive channel. So if I want to turn off a channel when a preset is selected, then I'll have to map it to a footswitch, then turn off the footswitch then save it. So every patch would have to have 2 footswitches on it, one for drive, one for boost. If i want to turn on a channel when a preset is selected, then I have to map it to the instant command. No footswitch mapping required. It sounds to me like there's a missing feature in the software: An instant command to turn off a channel. In order for the Instant Commands to work properly, you have to have the EXT AMP command(s) assigned to footswitches as well. I believe they're planning to change it eventually, but they haven't yet. I think the Instant Command may works for turning on the drive channel when you change presets, like you said, but I think there's simply no command to shoot out the open state for the EXT AMP without having the footswitch assigned right now. It's on page 36 of the manual.
