HX Edit coming up No Device Found after 2.8 update

Hello, ever since I updated my Helix floor and HX Edit to 2.80 HX Edit seems to have a hell of a time detecting my device.  Every once in a while I can HX Edit to see my device after serveral reboots of the floor unit or my PC or restarting HX Edit.  I can't seem to get it to consistently connect.  I was able to update to 2.81 at one point when it did connect, but that still hasn't fixed the issue.  When I check device manager my Helix shows up just fine. Windows seems to have no issues detecting the device, it is just HX Edit.  This is not the same issue I've seen where people are reporting that HX Edit freezes on them or has graphical issues.  HX Edit responds just fine.  It just doesn't see my device 9 times out or 10.  Had zero issues with connections before the 2.80 upgrade.

Here's what I've tried already:

Rebooting device and PC.

Removed all Helix drivers and software.  Redownloaded and reinstalled software.

Updated firmware and HX Edit from 2.80 to 2.81.

Updated Windows. (On latest release of Windows 10).

Other devices/software installed that may be interacting:

Focusrite Scarlett 18i8

Avid Protools First

Line 6 Powercab + 112 (only connected to Helix through L6 connection)

Any insight into this issue would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Do you have the latest firmware on your PowerCab+? Does HX Edit still have connection problems when your Helix is not connected to the PowerCab+?

If you have another usb cable from helix to pc - try it - I changed my cable when I noticed helix edit randomly loosing connection to my LT - strange because its the new cable that came with unit - but after 3 hours of use no disconnects yet - knock on wood

Yes, the powercab+ has the latest firmware.  Yes HX Edit still has connection problems when powercab is disconnected from the Helix.

The PC detects the Helix in device manager every time, it is just HX Edit that doesn't see it.  Also, give that this only started immediately after the 2.80 updates I highly doubt it is the cable.

I'm with you just thought I throw that out there - also had a disconnect again tonight so I guess I can rule out the cable also - didnt do this in 2.71 - hopefully things get worked out soon

Hi,

I also experienced a change in Hx Edit"s ability to detect device after getting to the 2.80 version. I discovered that having a USB mouse in one of my 3 USB ports was casuing earlier versions of Hx Edit to have problems, so I had already removed the USB mouse to get to this point. What I found was ...by changing to the 1st USB port my computer sees, the Hx Edit magically gained stability and I was finally able to upgrade the rest of the way to 2.81.

ALSO...I rebooted my computer after going to 2.80 and this seemed to help. The final update was performed using Line6 Update 1.18 and 2.81 Hx Edit. Anything else got errors.

In your particular case I suspect that your audio interface unit is plugged into a USB port that the Line6 software would like to use?

Good Luck. For Line6 admins, I strongly suggest that someone write up an Update FAQ that includes the simple fact that one cannot seemingly update from any version directly to the latest version e.g 2.81 without using the relevant Hx Edit and Line6 Update version. I started on version 2.51 and it took me two days to figure out the exact versions necessary AND to realize that my USB mouse was interfering with both the Line6 Update and Hx Edit programs despite the fact that it is not a "UsB hub"

I am good now, but it was quite an experience for someone who used to beta test Gigastudio software to find out there were still other ways to be experience software joy.
