Hello,

I would like to connect s/pdif coax output from my tv to ux2...but I don'tknow if only cable will be sufficient, or I actually need a converter digital to analog? Anyone has any suggestions, or where I could get a cable/converter and which one?

Thanks!

The UX2 only has S/PDIF out.

You can get a S/DIP to analog convertor, but I think most of them convert to rca jacks, so you would then have to convert those to 1/4"

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Typically you should avoid as many digital to analog and/or analog to digital conversions.

Not to say you can't or shouldn't depending on your situation.

Thanks for you reply.  Basically, I have a tv with low end speakers and I did hook up headphone out (the only analog out on tv) to roland monitor cm-30 but the sound is very bad and it's not stereo.  So I thought I could use UX2 which is connected to my macbook pro and is located near tv.  Currently, UX2 is connected via headphone out to logitech z2300 system (2.1 speakers, powered subwoofer and satellites).

I guess, the only solution I could have is to connect the headphone out of tv to UX2 via 3.5mm to 1/4" line in (I'll have to have a splitter too or use "monitor in"), and then use analog outs to 2 roland monitors, and headphone out to subwoofer in order to get 2.1 speaker set up (all powered).  I don't want to use z2300 satellites as they sound terrible (once you hear roland monitors).

My guess is the coax out on your tv is not digital audio.

You're probably better off getting a separate receiver and/or home theater system.

If you run the headphones out just be very careful with the levels.

You could use a TRS 1/8" to 2 TR 1/4" and use the UX's Line In's
