Helix stereo and mono settings

I am just considering purchase of the Helix. Can I run stereo sound to the stage and mono sound to the FOH, at the same time?  I want the stereo effects on stage but they would have to be summed to mono version for the FOH. I am looking at another product also and it looks like when run stereo on stage, only 1/2 of the signal goes to FOH, changing the sound of effects etc.

No problem at all, each of the 2 main output pairs provide a left/mono option, so you could run the pair of TRS to your stage monitor and use the left XLR out for FOH. Make sure your FX are mono compatible, though. Oh, and while we're at it, make sure phantom power is off. Otherwise, rather use XLR for your speakers and the TRS for FOH.

Yes this should work... both the XLR and 1/4" outputs collapse to mono individually when only it's LEFT output is used.

  • Run the Left/Right 1/4" output to the stage
  • Run the XLR Left/Mono Output to the FOH (make sure phantom power is OFF at the board)

If you use the XLR's to feed FRFR's on stage you can do that in reverse....

  • Run Left/Right XLR's to your FRFR's on stage
  • Run the 1/4" Left/Mono Output to a DI then to the FOH

If you are only sending a MONO signal to the house but monitoring in stereo - please make sure your tones work well when collapsed. Panning laws will change levels and phasing/cancellations can occur... it needs to be tested to make sure it still sounds good.
