Expression pedal glitch or pilot error?

I have a Rocktron Hex expression pedal I've connected to EXP2 on my Helix LT.  When I first boot the unit, it performs correctly.  However, as soon as I change presets, the Helix LT doesn't respond to the pedal.  I did have to set the polarity to INVERTED (the only cable I have was inverted for a previous processor), just so you have all the facts.  It doesn't matter WHICH preset I start on, it works perfectly with any preset until I change to a different one, then nothing.

I'll try inverting the polarity to NORMAL to see if the issue persists.  Any other troubleshooting I should try?  Anyone else have an issue like this?

The issue is that standard expression pedals use TRS wiring. This is a typical schematic:

Line 6 expression pedal inputs are designed for TS pedals, like this:

Sometimes TRS pedals will work. I think it depends on whether or not the tip to ring connection grounds out the whole way. If they do, I think what you're experiencing happens.

In short, not all pedals are compatible. If you want something guaranteed to be compatible, the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 is a good choice.
