Question on HX Stomp

Hi,

I’m thinking of getting a HX Stomp to go with my Marshall DSL1H, so that I can use the Stomp effects via 4CM, but also bypass the Marshall preamp and use the amp modelling in the Stomp if I want. However, and here’s my question, I’ve been reading that the Stomp can effectively have 2 effects loops  - not that it’s obvious from looking at it or reading the manual. Therefore is this right?  I have a Tech 21 Liverpool preamp pedal which is great and I would love to put that into a second effects loop and have the option of using choosing which loop for either the Marshall or Tech 21, or none at all and use the Stomp amp models and the power amp of the Marshall. Can it do this?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, but each loop requires an FX Loop Block. Currently you only get six blocks. The 2.9 (or is it 3.0?) update will increase that to 8 blocks, but it doesn't increase DSP. I'm not sure how much DSP an FX Loop takes. Another consideration is buttons. You've got 3 on board, and you can add 2 external at the cost of the EXP pedal input, unless you add an external MIDI controller. If you add up the costs, including the additional real estate (pedal board?) for all the add-ons, you're getting into LT territory. If you're already adding this much stuff before you even buy it, what more might you want to add later? And then there's the new POD GO.........
