cmscss
Hi There, I have the Meris Enzo and Ottobit pedals which are fantastic in the studio but are useless live because they have no volume control - yes, this is silly/stupid IMHO. Will the HX Effects allow me to... 1. Connect the Enzo/Ottobit to send/return 1 + 2 (mono) and control their input/output volume per patch? 2. Create HX Effects patches which combine HX Effects with Enzo/Ottobit CC/Program changes to switch the Meris pedals out of bypass and select their internal patches? It’s seems like the above is possible but just thought I’d double check with experienced users first. Cheers Ben
rd2rk
If you have their MIDI I/O box, there should be no problem using HXFX to control the Meris devices. Volume might be tricky. It will depend on the default I/O levels of the devices, since you'd be using the FX Loop levels, which range from -120db to +6db, and can be set to LINE or INSTRUMENT levels. But yes, those levels can be controlled using any of the available controllers - Snapshots, Exp Pedal, Footswitches or MIDI CC.
cmscss
Thanks so much for the reply, much appreciated. I’ve been reading the manual and it’s seems to have an easy to use interface - has that been your experience? Also, is there any serial no. or date info for units that have that noise fault? I’ll probably buy second-hand. And finally, the MIDI thru setting in the manual states: ‘When on, MIDI OUT also acts as a MIDI THRU; that is, it passes through any MIDI messages received at the MIDI IN jack‘. Does the word ‘also’ mean when on, it will merge MIDI thru data with output from the HX Effects into a single cable? Hope that all makes sense. The interface is virtually identical between Floor/Rack/HXStomp/HXFX/Native. Know one, know them all. 4 minutes ago, cmscss said: Also, is there any serial no. or date info for units that have that noise fault? I’ll probably buy second-hand. Don't own HXFX, own Floor and Stomp, so no clue what that's about. If it was a hardware/mfg problem, they'll probably take care of you even out of warranty, and warranties are transferable. If it was FW/SW, the latest update should fix it. 8 minutes ago, cmscss said: And finally, the MIDI thru setting in the manual states: ‘When on, MIDI OUT also acts as a MIDI THRU; that is, it passes through any MIDI messages received at the MIDI IN jack‘. There's a Global Setting that turns MIDI Thru ON/OFF.
cmscss
Thanks for that, I've just seen Helix Native and like the idea of having gat settings saved into the recording session (amongst many other features). A couple of questions if you don't mind... 1. If you buy Helix Native, are you limited to the effects on the HX Effects or do you get access to all Helix effects and sims? 2. Will HX Effects run setups created in Helix Native or is HX Effects always limited to the effects, cabs and sims it comes with? 3. If you're using DIN MIDI on your pedal board and Helix Native is connected to HX Effects via USB, can you pass CC messages via HX Effects to other MIDI pedals on the pedalboard in addition to controlling HX Effects? With the Boss ES-8, using the editor means disconnecting pedalboard MIDI while editing the ES-8, then reconnecting to test the changes with other pedals (which is frankly mind-numbing). Sorry for all the questions and thank you for taking the time to answer. Cheers Ben
rd2rk
1&2 - Native can be run in three "compatibility" modes - Helix Floor/LT/Rack HX Stomp HX FX ***Presets created in these modes can be exported to the appropriate hardware, and have all the features of that hardware except for the Input and Output Blocks. 3 - You can leave it all hooked up, and you can turn OFF MIDI Over USB if you want. You can run the editor and Native at the same time. ***Command Center is only accessible on the Hardware. cmscss
This is just for my reference when testing a second-hand unit for the 2018 noise/artefacts fault... Start with a fresh empty patch In block one, add a loop with default settings and plug nothing into the loop one's send/return In block two, add the Teemah distortion with default settings Turn on the loop (not the distortion), it shouldn't generate noise/hiss. If it does, the unit has the fault
