Mimile
Hi all, I bought a Helix Rack and a Powercab 212Plus a few months ago and I am very happy to use them. But I recently bought a small amp "Vox Rhythm5" which has a patch called "cali-metal" which has a sound that I have been looking for for a long time and that I cannot reproduce on my Helix. I believe it is a Mesa Dual Rectifier base ... If someone can tell me the Helix settings to get as close as possible to them then they will have my eternal recognition! Thanks in advance ! SaschaFranck
It'd possibly be a good idea to post a recording of that very preset.
Mimile
Hi, Good remark ! The recording quality isn't at top but it will give an idea anyway... Many thanks Vox-CaliMetal.mp3
SaschaFranck
Ok, fine... I should've been asking for that earlier: Could you as well record the same (or almost) the same bit as a raw DI guitar take by recording the Helix' USB 7 stream? Having your verty own guitar signal is a pretty important point for reconstructing any given sound...
Mimile
Hi SaschaFranck, Very sorry for this very late reply but I had some issues to produce the USB7 Helix stream, it's now done. I made again the cali-metal mp3 file and you will find attached the 2 files. Many thanks for your support if you are still there :-) Helix_USB7.mp3 Vox_Cali-Metal.mp3

Schmalle
Let me chime in here. Your clip sounds like a Mark 4 sound. Use the Cali IV Lead with following settings as starting point: LdGain 6 LdDrive 10 Bass 0.5 Mid 2.5 Treble 7 Presence 5 Master 3.7 Sag 1.5 80Hz 3 240Hz 3 750Hz -9 2200Hz 3 6600Hz 3 4x12Cail V30 Mic 160 Ribn Distance 3.0" Add a Tube Screamer in front with Drive @ 0, Tone 6, Level 8 for over the top lead gain. Play with the 80 240 750 2200 6600 settings to find out what these do to the sound. Also try increasing the LdGain while lowering Bass and Mid to compensate so it does not get muddy.
Mimile
Hi Schmalle, It begins to sound pretty good with some simple tweaks as indicated. I'm now trying to refine some of them in order to approach the Graal as close as possible ! Many thanks for your help.
