garythacker
I have an Ernie Ball Volume pedal I want to use with my 500x . Can anyone tell me the simplest way to connect it. I'm using the pod into a stack powered by Seymour Duncan's Power Stage 700. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
hurghanico
You can put the volume pedal (which is different than an expression pedal): - between your guitar and POD, where it affects also the amount of distortion and in general the models response.. somewhat similar to what you'd get by using the guitar volume knob - between the POD and the power-amp, for just volume changes - in the POD FX LOOP if you need to put it not at the beginning or at the end of the POD but in between the other FX models in the chain _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

DolurumMafikala
Gary, Out of interest, why do you want to use the extra volume pedal? You can use the pedal on the Pod as a volume pedal so I wondered what the advantage was? DM

DM Im aware that the 500x has a volume pedal I use it to control my volumes for rhythm. in all fairness the built in pedal cant hold a candle to the Ernie Ball pedal. I have a Ernie Ball MVP that has a 20db boost. Im trying to use it to boost the level into one of my stacks for lead.

Did you try to put your VP in the POD FX LOOP (between the SEND and RETURN)? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Connect the POD SEND output to your Volume Pedal input, and connect your VP output to the POD RETURN input. Put a FX LOOP block in the chain of your patches and move it where you like to be your VP: at the beginning, at the end, or somewhere in between the other blocks. It should work. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
garythacker
Thank you I’ll try that this afternoon but What settings should I start with on the FX Loop? I understand that I’ll need to find tune them buy what’s a good starting point?

Since your VP expects an instrument level input signal first I would set (if it isn't already) the FX LOOP switch (on the rear panel) to STOMP. In regard to the FX LOOP block settings I would start with the default settings, ie SEND zero, RETURN zero, MIX 100%.. If the resulting signal is too low you can increase the RETURN level value as needed.. In case you get too much noise you could try instead to set the FX LOOP switch to LINE (hotter) and if the resulting signal is too loud you can lower the SEND level value as needed.. In any case you can also fine tune your VP boosting level to find the best balance. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
