stratblue
Hi All. Just can't figure this out. I have a ping pong delay and I want to apply different effects to the left and right repeats, say chorus to the ping and reverb to the pong, can someone point out just how easy it is and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

stratblue
Thanks for that, I swear that is the first thing I tried but it seemed like the ping and the pong went down both branches, I just assumed I had done something stupid. Oh well...

Oh well... Well, if that’s what you were trying for. O.K. You’re starting with a stereo effect, Ping Pong. You have to remember that all 4 possible paths in Helix are stereo. When the “Y Split” is added down onto path 2 it is going from one stereo path to another, therefore both sides of the split need to be panned fully left and right. Likewise on the “merge” you need to ensure the path are panned hard left 100 and right 100. Personal preference for me is big, bold, swirly stereo FX, more the merrier, but hey, whatever. TB413
It’s not clear to me whether OP’s problem is solved or not, but one thing to remember with Helix is that you can do some pretty creative (albeit, tedious) routing with the FX sends/returns and some patch cables. Example: Ping pong delay on path 1A or 1B. Make the last block of that chain a stereo FX send, using Send 1/2. Turn the “Dry Thru” all the way down. Using 1/4” patch cables, patch Send 1 to Return 1 and patch Send 2 to Return 2. Place mono FX return blocks on path 2A (Return 1) and 2B (Return 2). Set both “Mix” controls to 100%. Now you have independent mono paths for the left and right channels, as long as you make sure to hard pan them left/right in the final merge block. It’s not exactly an elegant solution and it takes up three blocks - though you can theoretically save one block if you use the 1/4” OUTPUTS instead of sends on the first path. All of that said, you can really expand the signal routing capabilities beyond what’s allowed in the software by using the FX loops and patch cables. Another example would be if you need more than two sets of parallel paths.
