Using POD GO for bass guitars

Hi all

I picked up the pod go as a replacement to my aging Korg AX100G so I'm still learning my way around but loving it.

My questions is, is it safe to use the Pod go with a bass guitar. I have a yamaha trbx504. I read in a couple of forums that the heaviness in the bass electronics/voltage can cause faster degradation of guitar pedals hence not sure if its safe.

Can you share your inputs on this please? Thanks in advance

Joe

I use my Pod GO almost exclusively for bass both 4 and 5 string.works great

Yea, the internet if full of it sometimes. voltage is voltage....A bass could damage speakers in an open back cabinet if it is run to clipping...The low frequency can tear the motor apart...but inside a pedal...no, not really...it might overload it a little, but that is just overdriving a preamp inside preamp...If a bass guitar blows it up, then it wasn't very well designed to start with.

I'll also add that a Tech 21 Deuce Deluxe is an outstanding FRFR cab to use with both bass and guitar.  It was meant for both and sounds fantastic.  I sold my bass amp as a result.  Very affordable too.

Is it loud enough to use for your main amp at a gig?

I haven't used it at a gig yet to say for sure but at home, it's pretty loud for practice just on nine o'clock.  Check out this very long thread on the DD at the gear page for a whole lot more detail.  https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/tech-21-deuce-deluxe-frfr-guitar-cab.2009436/

Hey guys,

I’ve just discovered the Pod Go and it looks really interesting. Seems like you get a lot for your money!

Before investing in it, I want to know how well it’ll hold up for gigs. If I go through DI straight to front of house or used the “house cab” would it cope and be as powerful as something like a Darkglass Alpha-Omega 500w for example?

It's not powered. You would need a power amp if you have a need to run a house cab with your own power...But it works great just hitting the power amp in of every "house" amp  I have used it with. I have had mine a while and it's held up very nicely.

Find a guitar with filters that give it something close to the synth you are looking for then change the cabs and heads or even better IR's (the Choptones Bass IR's make it 10000x better for Bass) and boom, killer synth bass.
